So by your logic, because a game has a similar concept it's automatically deemed copied? I mean I don't think I understand, just because it has a similar concept does not make it copied, it may have similar buildings still doesn't make it copied. You can't just shoot down a game and call it copied because it has a similar concept as another one. No Support/WNTS

I know this applies to the fact that ROBLOX can use user-generated content anywhere and for any reason, but I think that it also applies to whether the user or ROBLOX has the intellectual property right to user-generated content.
Copying a game by using the site or game outside of its intended purpose (exploits/hacks/etc) definitely warrants a ban and/or removal of content. Otherwise, user-created games should not be considered literally copy-able if the user does not intend to have it open-source and if the developer makes a unique game with certain features that are proprietary to the game.
If users were prevented from using similar ideas, then there would be no incentive for the game developer to better his/her game. Here's an example:
John makes a "Skateboard Race" game. If he had a copyright protection over his game idea, then there would be no other skateboard race games. His "Skateboard Race" then becomes the only skateboard race that people play, and he has no reason to make his game better as long as people like playing his skateboard race because there are no other skateboard races out there.
On the other hand, if John did not have copyright protection over the skateboard race idea, there would likely be other skateboard race games out there provided that the skateboard race is a fun and popular game idea. If Jane makes a skateboard race very similar to John's and people are beginning to play Jane's just as much as John's, then John has an incentive for making his game better than Jane's so that people will play his more. Jane too will have an incentive to make hers better if people begin to play John's skateboard race more, and the cycle continues as so.
This sort of process is how not only good gameplay but unique gameplay develops, and if a user's gameplay idea is so unique and difficult to be recreated by others, then there is no sense of a game being copied. In the real world, many products mimic brand-name products even though they are not exactly the same. A brand-name product offers a unique aspect, hence the title "brand-name." Another brand that resembles the same product offers a different aspect, such as a more affordable price.
Though in the real world there are copyrights to certain aspects of a product, the same does not apply to user-generated content on ROBLOX. As stated earlier, ROBLOX owns all user-generated content. If they want to impose some sort of copyright system of their own, they can, but because of the aforementioned reasons I do not think they will.
Please correct me if I'm wrong in the way I interpreted the Terms of Service and the way I approached the copyrighting concept. |

I Agree that two games got similiar things like buildings cars etc thatit isnt copied but..
The whole Prison life is copied Design Ideas you name it and what isnt copied he took the idea and remaked it like the opening blocks
In prison life you need a card to open the door. But in redwood you'ill need to click it its basicly the same

OP is an idiot. Want the moderators to ban "redwood prison"? I would support this if it was about the "adopt and raise a cute baby" games, but no, just no.
Roy actually put effort into his game and so far the only copied things I saw were the cars. |

Roy indeed put effort make the game but i can make the exact redwood or Prison life just in 2-3 Hours It isnt difficul to copy a game and remake it |

I have been here since 2011 and I know that Roy is either the main or alt of the creator of Dead Winter. Think before you speak.
And just because he decided to make a prison game he officially copied Prison Life?
Redwood prison is better than Prison Life anyways, Aethestical gave up on his game, so be glad that you got another prison game. |
