SEC Power Rankings Week 5:
#1: Alabama Crimson Tide
Why are they #1?
Alabama might have got their first loss of the Season to TAMU, but losing by 3 to a resurging TAMU team is nothing to be ashamed of. They still have the best record in the SEC and should be the favorite to win the Championship. That is unless our #2 team has anything to say about it.
Change from Last week: None
#2: Florida Gators
Why are they #2?
The Florida Gators didn’t just defeat the previous #2 team in the country, they demolished them 37-0. This Gators team is really the only threat to Alabama from the East to take the Championship from them (even if they lost to them earlier). Their defense is legit as not only did they leave Georgia scoreless, they got multiple Int’s and Sacks. This team is legit, but doesn’t have the record to be considered #1.
Change from Last week: up 1
#3 Texas A&M Aggies
Why are they #3?
Texas A&M did what no other team could manage. They beat the only previously undefeated team by 3. Like I said before this is a resurging team that proved that they can beat Alabama and maybe be the Dark Horse to win the SEC.
Change from Last week: Up 3
#4: Georgia Bulldogs
Why are they #4
The bulldogs got exposed. Losing 37-0 to any team is a bad sign. This is why even though Georgia had the better record than TAMU, they are worse on the Power Rankings. Also, they don’t seem to have an answer at QB and when your HC quits mid game, it questions the leadership.
Change from Last week: Down 2
#5: Tennessee Volunteers:
Why are they #5?
The Tennessee Vols won. Congrats. The only problem is that . they let Mississippi State, a team that has won 1 game this season and is out of the playoffs put up 40 points against them. Yes, the Vols have a good offense, but if they want to make a run for that #2 seed, they need a defense that can prevent the Opposition from scoring.
Change from Last week: Up 1
#6: Missouri Tigers
Why are they #6?
For the same reason as the Vols. Yes mizzou won the game, but they barely escaped the gamecocks by 2 points and needed a triple overtime to do so. Again, if this team wants to be taken seriously, they must put together a defense.
Change from Last week: Down 1
#7: Tied between Mississippi State and South Carolina .
Why are they #7?
Both of these teams put up valiant fights and came up short in the end. Mississippi State and South Carolina both had the ability to pull off upsets, but fell a little short. This year might not be the year for Famous_Dante, but I can almost guarantee next season he will make a run for the playoffs.
Change for Mississippi State: Up 1
Change for South Carolina: Up 3
#10 Tied between Auburn and LSU:
Both teams came into the game with one win, both left with one win. Enough Said.
