Defensive Ends:
-Both DEs need to be communicating on what they need from each other at all times. As a DE, you are only as good at the one across from you.
- DEs Job: Apply pressure. That doesn't necessarily mean getting sacks. Pushing the QB into a corner, jumping, blocking his vision and getting into his face can sometimes be more effective then getting sacks. Sacks are also easier to get when the QB is cornered.
- Thing to NOT DO: Don't let the QB hop the middle, you do this by watching him closely, jumping, not going too far outside and not biting on his fakes.
Short CBs:
-You are the main support for your deep, so if no one is in our zone go help them on the sideline
-You must CONSTANTLY I have an eye on the sideline and in the middle watching for people coming into your zone, if you see someone going into your zone meet them there don't wait for them to come in.
-GET IN FRONT OF THE WR YOU ARE COVERING, BAITING AT SHORT DOES.NOT.WORK. doing so will allow a pass and make you look stupid.
-On run plays, you contain the outside and force the run back inside
Deeps:
- Line up 5 yards off LoS to prevent mid hops
-Avoid getting picked by seeing what the play is, read it for half a second, if it isn't a run OP dive backwards to avoid getting picked. Once you've OP dove look for a man in your zone or coming into your zone.
-Avoid baiting unless it is a QB who is throwing low to his wide open man, don't try to be the hero. If you choose to be an idiot and completely ignore this, only bait when it's a sideline pass. But playing lockdown will get your more INTs, because when the DEs apply pressure it makes the QB force the pass.
MLB:
-Watch the mid hops
-Cover anything in short middle, if a short has a man going into their zone and isn't reacting to it you pick it up.
-Don't be afraid to cover 15-20 yards back if no one is short, focus on stopping comebacks.
FS:
-Must have good ball in air skills
-Must be able to hawk
-Don't let ANYONE behind you
-Support deeps if there is no one middle
