Ruling is upheld.
6.2.14: Intentional Grounding
(a) Penalty enforced at the spot of the foul.
(b) Occurs when a quarterback's initial forward pass does not cross the line of scrimmage or is clearly not passed to someone behind it. Once the ball hits the invisible wall out of boundaries it is considered a dead ball and flight over the white out of boundaries counts as crossing the line of scrimmage.
"or is clearly not passed to someone behind it"
a receiver was in the area of the pass so therefore it is NOT intentional grounding. |

Intentional Grounding is when a pass go's out of bounds before the line of scrimmage or anywhere on the field where there is no receiver in the area.
Correct your self before you riggity riggity rekt your self |

The cause of controversy was not whether intentional grounding was called. Its the fact that the refs enforced it as a 5 yard penalty rather than the safety, thats why it took so long. |
