Need Tips for building small things

Im trying to build small structures like you would find in games like the conquerors. But i am having a hard time moving the blocks to where they need to go because they snap to particular points. How can i work with these "microblocks" effectively?

Make them large, then use the model resize plus-in to make it super small. That's the easiest way.
