I mean really just oh my god. It is actually necessary to wear three hats to avoid floating when using sword gears. Not even two is enough. There is just no reason for this at all. There is no reason why the amount of hats you have should affect the height to raise to when lunging. For me personally, I like to wear just one hat. But the game forces me to combine it with two that work as best as possible (they don't at all) just so I can actually defeat anyone. I just... why was this not removed ages ago? Where is a single benefit to having this? Add 2.5k - 4k posts - I don't know I didn't count like you ❖ E-Day is Coming ❖

I fully support this. The fact that hats add weight at all is incredibly stupid - it's supposed to be a cosmetic item, it should not affect you in the actual game.

It's not a feature that's there on purpose, it's there because of how the physics engine works. Hats aren't special instances they're just a part welded to your head. Welded parts still have weight.

"I fully support this. The fact that hats add weight at all is incredibly stupid - it's supposed to be a cosmetic item, it should not affect you in the actual game." Essentially this ROBLOX. This right here is the simplified version. What sane mind decided this would be a nice feature? I want to kill in style. Not have to change my style to actually be able to kill. @Wonderful. The addition of weight itself was an implementation by the ROBLOX team. Logically as these hats are being uploaded in a different way than your standard welded part, they would have different mechanics to prevent such inconveniences. No support. Hats are supposed to make your character heavy for a reason. No capes! | TAKE THIS SIGN SO WE CAN TAKE AWKWARD OFF SALE! http://www.roblox.com/Protest-Sign-No-more-Awkward-item?id=374146899

The only reason they're uploaded as hats is so they can be treated that way by the site. They work the exact same way as a regular welded part in-game. The ONE difference between a hat and a regular part is that a hat is set to automatically weld to your head when touched. That's it.

I'm a developer myself - I'm aware of WHY they add weight. That doesn't excuse ROBLOX from the fact that they were too damn lazy to make a WeightlessPart instance. It wouldn't even be that hard, just copy and paste your current Part but change the weight calculation to 0.

He's a troll, and wants to cause chaos, so the best course is to ignore him. Anyway, this just shows how lazy these devs are, support.

Hats are actually meshes worn on your character, which meshes only work on parts. Parts, depend on how many you wear or how big it is, can make your character heavy. Wearing a tiny part or wearing no or a few parts makes your character light. Removing the hat gravity together defeats this logic. It takes a while to get used to. If I'm wrong in any statement, don't correct me unless I tell you to. No capes! | TAKE THIS SIGN SO WE CAN TAKE AWKWARD OFF SALE! http://www.roblox.com/Protest-Sign-No-more-Awkward-item?id=374146899

No support, when you wear more hats in real life you obviously weight more. So this makes ROBLOX more realstic. And the effect is pretty small if you ask me. Just click the "+=" button on your keyboard and something magic happens.

The effect is not pretty small. Lunge with no hats and you'll pretty much do the equivalent of a jump. Lunge with one and you do just under. Lunge with two and you raise slightly off the ground. Only three will keep you down. Thus only three will keep you alive. And since when has ROBLOX given a single stuff about realism? We're blocky mesh characters in a multitude of virtual worlds, I think we can make one slightly unrealistic move here... Add 2.5k - 4k posts - I don't know I didn't count like you ❖ E-Day is Coming ❖

@Bloodlusts They've cared about realism in their physics engine for years. Back when the potato gun was released they showed that the math behind it mimicked a potato gun in real life. They've always strived to make the engine respond just like it realistically would.

"They've cared about realism in their physics engine for years. Back when the potato gun was released they showed that the math behind it mimicked a potato gun in real life. They've always strived to make the engine respond just like it realistically would." I don't fly up six feet when I jump without a hat, and not at all when I have three. There is still no reason for hats to add weight. As mentioned, their sole purpose is design aesthetic, not to serve any functioning purpose. What they are doing is detrimental. Hundreds of sword fighters who want to kill with just one or two hats, or maybe none, are forced to wear three, clunky, unappealing hats for the sole purpose of not being slaughtered. You're right, there is no reason. But it's how the physics engine works. You'd have to change the mechanics of how a part works or add a new weightless part instance. The problem is, assets on the site are saved as miniature models so they'd have to somehow go through every single hat and turn the Handle into a weightless part.

Or just run an engine which does the process for each hat? This is 2016, things don't have to be done manually one at a time anymore. Add 2.5k - 4k posts - I don't know I didn't count like you ❖ E-Day is Coming ❖

All of you people explaining why it happens seem to be missing the point. Everyone understands that hats add weights because of how they are implemented. We are saying they should be implemented in a way that DOESN'T do this. For those of you who still don't get this, suppose that instead of putting Reset in as a menu option, ROBLOX was lazy and just bound it to the right mouse button. Yeah, it works. Yeah, it's easier than creating a whole new menu. That doesn't mean it's not a dumb idea and you wouldn't want it changed. Realism isn't exactly a factor in this, the average human being has enough leg strength to make wearing 3 hats or no hats have nearly zero difference on his ability to jump. I also looked into this potato cannon blog post - they are NOT saying they modeled a potato cannon to behave exactly like it's real world counterpart. They are using the potato cannon as an excuse to go into basic projectile motion physics, and the TL;DR of the blogpost is basically "Our physics engine is consistent with the first things you learn in a physics class". Finally, there is nothing stopping ROBLOX from running a script to go through every hat on the site, download the asset, change it to a weightless brick, and re-upload it (except for the fact that weightless bricks don't exist yet, of course). You'd be amazed how fast modern technology is.

Why do you guys want hat gravity to stay so much? Do you have games based on hat gravity? It's not that hard to implement, so I support this 110%. murp
