July 20, 1969. Humanity landed on the moon.
December 28, 2083. We discovered aliens on the far reaches of our solar system.
January 1, 2084. The aliens arrive at our planet and greet us in our own language. The aliens are humans from a distant planet they named "Kaldur." Apparently, Earth was an early colony, but contact was lost around 7,000 BC. In that time, humanity on earth had nuked itself to near death. All the largest strange creatures, called dinosaurs, were irradiated, but many other species of animals survived. Meanwhile, as we've tried to recover from that loss, humanity has extended its reach and its technology. However, we've bumped against an alien society. Antagonists are what the humans refer to them as, and humans are at war with them. And losing. The humans quickly inform the U.N. of everything lost to them, and a search is called for adequate commanders.

Where do you wish to be assigned: Border Patrol, Offensive Fleet, or Reserve Fleet.
Border Patrol may skirmish Antags every once in a while, and may rarely have to deal with an Antag fleet. Will have some benefits from being close to home, such as repair, rearming, and the possibility of being withdrawn.
Offensive Fleet has the honor of directly attacking Antags and Antag-controlled systems. It will often have to be in combat, but will be more likely to perish. Can resupply directly from Antag-owned stocks.
Serve Fleet will rarely see combat, but will receive all benefits from being home. However, you may be called to the front in order to reinforce others, and may thusly have to relinquish command. |
