and the new Star Trek movies imo have gone too far action, which admittedly is what you need to make a profitable movie. What made the series great (most of them anyway) was the exploration parts, instead of jam packed full of huge fight scenes and things.
The new one I'm especially wary of since it is so greatly advertised as "Directed by Justin Lin, Director of the Fast and Furious." Although, y'know, a script by Simon Pegg is nice.
