And full time college or university staff member is allowed to have a concealed handgun (with a permit of course) Also, the the punishment for possession of Mary Juana is lowered. I hope soon they finally allow for it to be used medically. Not huge steps but still forward none the less. If anyone is asking "couldn't anyone carry a concealed gun?" Some colleges are gun free( which is stupid and doesn't work.) It is also a step to better saftey and gun control. Putting guns in the hands of smart and respectable people is good. I honestly never thought I would see a day where Tennessee as a whole passed laws I agree with. Other things I think are good is that wine is now sold in grocery stores and underage college students can now "sip" the b3 3r they make in brewing courses legally.

ALL government buildings are gun free zones. ALL crowded areas (concerts, movies, etc.) are also gun free zones.

Colleges and universities in Tennessee are technically not gun free zones anymore.

"And full time college or university staff member is allowed to have a concealed handgun (with a permit of course)" That isn't a good law, it's an awful one. I'm all for gun rights, but that is absolutely absurd. Not happy with the new campus carry law in Texas that permits anyone with a concealed handgun license to have one on campus either

We're letting trustworthy people legally carry guns. It should hopefully make sure no shootings happen on campus.

I don't want to be anywhere near someone that I know has a gun on them. I don't care who they are. It doesn't make me feel safe. Just because someone gave them a PhD doesn't mean they're mentally sound people with good intentions that I trust anymore than some backwater red neck with a shotgun. It's a huge distraction in what's supposed to be a focus oriented learning environment. How do you know they're trustworthy? These are people you've never met in your life, you know nothing about them.

I forgot to mention that they must be approved by the school or law enforcment. It isn't like just any random person can have a gun in them. They have to have a license and be approved.

"I don't want to be anywhere near someone that I know has a gun on them. I don't care who they are. It doesn't make me feel safe." What if that person had a knife on them instead of a gun

I don't want to be around someone I know has a knife either. Did you think my answer would be different?

"what is stupid about that" assuming he's using the argument that u need more guns to stop the ppl with guns

"he's using the argument that u need more guns to stop the ppl with guns" which is a terrible argument. FBI data shows that out of 160 mass shootings between 2000-2013, only a single incident was stopped by a civilian with a gun and that 21 of them were stopped by civilians that were unarmed. "if i find out that razor teeth has been making fun of me, i'll turn him into cat food and lots of it"

gun free zones aren't very effective lol that's just telling the criminal there is nobody there to stop you

My problem with gun free zones is that lawful citizens won't be carrying a gun because they respect the law. Criminals could care less about laws.
