The MeshPart is a physically simulated mesh that supports the upload of custom meshes with its MeshID property.
That which gives these objects their shape is their MeshID that is generated in Roblox Studio when a custom mesh is uploaded, we could also put in an existing MeshID and it would work fine in Roblox Studio.
But if we try to change the MeshID of the MeshPart object inside a running game with a script, it doesn't work because the Wiki says the MeshID property is "unscriptable", is there a reason for this and if not can it be made scriptable?
This is interesting because we could insert our own custom meshes inside games, take building games for instance

Yes, there is a reason. MeshParts are special because you aren't just changing the look of the part, but the mesh actually has its own collision model. That model can't be re-computed during run-time (when the game is running). |
