I have received many complaints about the current level of quality of our officers. For that reason, I've decided to re-create a Test that every Sergeant Major desiring to be an Officer shall pass.
The test will be in 5 phases.
- Phase 1: Basic commands
Probably the easiest of the phases, you will be tested on your knowledge of the musket commands and the basic marching commands, this should not take more than 15 minutes.
- Phase 2: Formations
You will be tested on your knowledge of formations, including double ranks, stagger, wedge/arrowhead. Fire and advance will also be included in this section. This can take up to 35 minutes.
- Phase 3: Commanding a line during a Line Battle.
Most of the people have never been in a LB, and when we face other groups we lose because of that. This section will ensure that our officers knows how to command a line. Leading a line during a LB is very hard, the leadership required is high and having that leadership is what makes a good officer. You must also have a good understanding of the commands we use to suceed in this phase.
- Phase 4: Knowing the field you're working on.
We are talking about London there. In this phase we will simulate a Riot. You will be given an ammount of squads, each of the squad will have a Sergeant Major leading it. The SM will receive an arrest tool. You will have to catch the rebels by placing well your squads, communicating frequently with your squad leaders and being sure to know what's happening out there. You will stay in the fort, giving your orders through :PM. You will be evaluated on the time it took you to catch all the rebels.
- Phase 5: How to handle everyday problems.
This phase will basically be a serie of scenarios that could happen to an officer in his everyday duty. Most officers rely on their admin to solve problems and that is unhealthy, a good leader can lead his men without even touching his admin. Admin is only a tool. For that reason, during this phase, your admin will be removed. You can not study for this phase, it is common sense and pure leadership.
Phases will be held everyday.
You are not required to pass the phases in a given order but phase 3 can not be passed if the individual did not pass Phase 1 and 2.
