Pluses:
Videos in game
Cool effects
More possibilities
Problems:
Take longer for mods to review since they would have to look frame by frame...

Support, I can see movie theatres coming to life but this will be good news for explooters. |

GIFS will be hard to moderate though. |

But are interesting to use though |

make them cost money based on file size |

Moderation probably wouldn't be to big a problem, because the mods won't have to move between multiple pages to view different images - the loading times of multiple image pages probably equaling the amount of extra time required to view multiple frames. If combined with a length cost, the extra time for moderation probably wouldn't be too great compared to the current system, whereby any animators would submit their images individually - and could feasibly be less (although I don't know the precise methods used by ROBLOX).
The same goes for file size - this system would be more efficient, both in terms of the raw file sizes (were GIF compression employed), in terms of the size on the disk (the extra code used in padding would be reduced on only one file), or in terms of size on the web server (only one URL for the whole GIF).
The only point against it - of which I can think - is that it is already possible; and it would be ROBLOX programming in something purely to make life easier for those less literate with coding - whether or not this is a bad thing, you can decide for yourselves - I personally see it as a positive thing.
Anybody raising concerns about flashes or jump scares should note that it is perfectly possible to program those using existing ROBLOX features. Also, since it is already possible to program, objections on the basis of the principle of GIFs (i.e. having animations) are pretty much pointless - animations already being possible.
The real question is - as always with a fairly good idea - would it be worth ROBLOX's time in developing the compatibility for it? Any developers out there, would you use it?
Thanks for your time reading,
Bobbybillyhi.
P.S. Answering my own question - no, I probably wouldn't use it (other than one project I had once) - but then again, none of my projects have ever involved graphics to any large extent. |

True, but as I pointed out above, it will reduce file sizes and possibly moderation time, so it would be worth it for ROBLOX. |

Can't you just get a lot of decals and script them or whatever?

If you do that roblox will turn into a meme wasteland, and i hate memes

Roblox already is a meme wasteland |
|
|
Yes, Ethan, you can. But as I explained above, this, if done well, could take down both storage size, and moderation time when compared to a scripted animation. |

meme wasteland is nothing |

###### A gif is stored the exact same way as a series of images (with bad compression), so file size won't be affected. They also need to review each individual frame of a GIF to make sure people won't exploit them in, so it might even increase moderation time. |
