They can be useful, just don't pay them. Simple.

As I stated in my original post. I'm not going in depth on how much of an impact they can make. If you want to do the research on your own time please do, it's very surprising. I also thought they were useless and no, you wouldn't pay them like anyone else of course.

Well, the thing is, a lot of times, people on this forum try to recruit builders and scripters to do all of the work for him/her and make a game for a percentage of the game's profits. The person who is recruiting and assumes the role of being the manager does virtually nothing but still gets a percent (usually quite a large one, too) of the project.

To add onto that counter, the only time I would join a team if I wasn't being paid up front and was given the usual promise if having a percentage of the profits. Then I would only do in the event the project was short and sweet and a good investment of my time. When people say they want to create entire RPGs, town games, and etc with the same promise of only a percentage of the profits then I'll instantly turn my back on it.

I'll only join a dev team if that person can undoubtedly pay me, like OBC, or another BC. I built a tycoon for a guy(I'm sorry) He is BC and only paying like 700, but that is fine with me. #code if aninja = true then print ('yay')
