my counselor has been getting on me about selling myself short and whatnot so i need to pick some higher end schools for reaches and lower end schools for safeties. here is some important information and some schools i am currently considering. please add to this if you know any good matches for me, all of the college match stuff i do is just terrible and i get way too many results. gpa: 4.23 weighted, 3.6 or something unweighted sat: 1410 act: taking in september, should get 32+ easily major: business (management, marketing, international, haven't decided on an exact program yet but something within that cluster) schools i currently have for reach: penn michigan NYU schools i currently have for targets: maryland college park arizona state schools i currently have for safety: michigan state delaware salisbury local community college

for you Californians: which of the UCs is best for my current credentials, should i apply to a UC at all, will i get an legacy benefits if my dad is a graduate of irvine? also i want to look at some more local schools but maryland isnt a great college state hopkins is our best school but that's primarily premed, i wouldn't go there for business then its college park, then the next highest is probably towson which i could get into in a heartbeat none of the random ass hundreds of pennsylvania schools are all that interesting and UVA is likely out of reach for cost and academics, f### everything

USF where I'm going is great for business (international or domestic) thanks to it's location but it comes with a price tag. Santa Clara is also private and expensive but is top school for jobs after graduation. For the UCs probably UCLA since it's in the largest city for your major. Now looking at your grades Davis would definitely accept you and is a great school though the location is not in a prime spot for business. Santa Barbara would probably accept you and is also a good school.

If you accomplish a 28+ on ACT then the UC schools I mentioned will accept you. Idk how the new SAT thing works: And yeah Moldy is right on NYU. Basically any large industrial city is prime for business majors.

My bro's graduate dream school is Georgetown. They would probably be in the reach category but I have only heard good things about the university.

thank you tiny, i looked at UCLA but their standards and cost... woof "lol u do realize if u get a 32+ u can get into 75% of colleges in the united states right" yeah well we're shooting for the top 100 or so here pal @moldy i think the biggest issue im grappling with is that i would like to just go to college park but so many people (parents, counselors, etc) are saying that i should have so many other schools in the picture. it's low cost, got my major in an excellent program, big name, fun student life, high academic standards... even if i get into penn or nyu or michigan i dont know if i would want to go

Yes UCLA would be in the reach section with your current credentials. Reading over what you said I am positive you would be granted admission to UC Irvine but I do not know how the legacy thing works.

"are u just really smart but lazy or what? idk how u have a 3.6gpa and expect to get a 32 on the act" 3.6 unweighted is an A average so i dont really know what youre getting at ACT is pretty easy and most people from my school who scored lower than me on SAT got at least a 32

Disclaimer: I haven't read any other posts on this thread besides the ones I'm replying to "which of the UCs is best for my current credentials, should i apply to a UC at all, will i get an legacy benefits if my dad is a graduate of irvine? " Unfortunately you won't get any legacy benefits. For UCs I'd say your highest is probably UC Davis. Berkeley and UCLA would be a definite stretch and UCSD would probably be a bit hard as well considering it's a top 20 school, but UC Davis (4th best UC according to rankings) I could see you getting into possibly with your numbers. Here are numbers I compiled in a spreadsheet from the class of 2015 admissions a couple month ago with GPA averages: Berkeley (W 4.41 UW 3.91) UCLA (W 4.3 UW 3.9) UCSD (W 4.13 UW N/A) Davis (W 3.95-4.25 UW 3.72-3.96) Irvine (W 4.05 UW N/A) UCSB (W 4.04 UW N/A) "are u just really smart but lazy or what? idk how u have a 3.6gpa and expect to get a 32 on the act" A 3.6 unweighted is actually pretty good, and it's fairly obvious from fire's posts on the SF that he's a smart guy, it's not a stretch to expect a 32.

as far as undergraduate business programs the rankings go something like (from the schools ive listed) 1. michigan 2. NYU 3. penn 4. michigan state (surprising, right?) 5. college park but starting costs would look something like 1. NYU/michigan/michigan state/penn ~$60k 5. college park ~$25k of course those would come down with financial aid but still thank you for the UC information, i might apply to SD or davis. i was looking at them for a while but it was hard to get all the numbers straight in my head. honestly just want one school out west in case something goes drastically wrong with my personal life here and i just need to start over. i think ASU is that school right now.
