I suggest using OBS (Open Broadcast Software) and then following a youtube setup tutorial. Because whatever software you're using to record is so unreliable and laggy.

I used OBS but in my older videos it was laggy and it kept on freezing, now I can either record my whole monitor with OBS, or use the recording program which is with my editing sofware.

In the video, I accused the parts where I took damage in huge portions instantaneously to be lag switching. I don't know what the eventual damage taken is, but it's not the lag switching that I know of.
