Police Scotland Code of Conduct™ I - Police Caution. A police caution is said to a suspect upon arrest. This is to be said no matter what, or else it is a false arrest and could lead to you being sued. The police caution is as follows: You are not obliged to say anything, but anything you do say will be noted, and may be used in evidence. --- II - Codes. State codes are to give you current policing state. Before anything you state on the radio, you should always say you collar number before it. Your collar number is given in your application if you passed. The State Codes are as follows: State 0 - Emergency Assistance State 1 - On Duty State 2 - On Patrol / Resuming Patrol State 3 - At Station / Office Duty State 4 - Refreshments State 5 - En route to incident State 6 - At scene State 7 - Committed - Deployable State 8 - Committed - Not Deployable State 9 - Prisoner Escort State 10 - At Court State 11 - Off Duty State 12 - Confidential Message State 13 - Non Urgent Call back State 14 - Urgent Call Back State 15 - Recieved State 16 - Repeat IC Codes identify nationalities of suspects. IC1 - White - North European IC2 - Mediterranean - South European IC3 - Black IC4 - Asian IC5 - Chinese, Japanese or other (South) East Asian IC6 - Arabic or North African IC9 - Unknown Response grades are used to show how to get to an incident. Grade C - Extended call, Scheduled appointments Grade B - Significant call, routine call Grade A - Immediate response call --- III - Uniform. Uniform is expected to be worn in a polo shirt, and a high visual vest. If you are, however, on a custody duty, you will be asked to wear just the polo. Allie Uniform. Firearms - The Provided vest. Road Policing Unit - The provided jacked. Criminal Investigation - Look like a citizen. --- IV - Gear. Taser: - The taser should be deployed only to stop danger to the officer and or to stop a fleeing suspect. - Before deploying, the red dot should be pointed at the suspect in an effort to make them stop. Do this by pressing "E" and stating "RED-DOT, TASER!" - If they continue, deploy the taser while stating "TASER TASER TASER!". Tase the suspect before saying this, though. - Tasers should never be pointed at a colleague or any law abiding civilian, even in jest. CS Spray: - Used to temporarily blind a suspect. - If a suspect is being difficult, or being aggressive towards an officer or yourself. - CS Spray can kill people, use within reason. - CS Spray will bring a red screen to the suspect, although you will be able to see through it slightly. Police Radio: - Use for communication across Essex. - You should always use your collar number before anything you say on the radio. - Miss use of the radio can result in suspension. Handcuffs: - Used to detain a suspect. - Before arresting using the baton tool, always read the police caution. - Never detain from a distance; it's classed as Fail-RP. ASP Baton: - Used as a defence weapon. - Will kill after multiple hits. - Use if you're in danger from non-lethal weapons. Lethal Weaponry: - Used by the Armed Response Unit. - Only to be used against a gun threat (Even toy guns, such as water pistols, which could be mistaken for actual weapons) - Only fire upon a suspect if you feel yourself, civilians or your colleagues are in danger.
