I know the omnipotence theory has been going around for ages, but I'd love to hear Dapper's assumption on it. But if you don't know it, I'll explain it.
Say a a omnipotent being, such as Jesus for example. (I'm not meaning to offend religion.) Wanted to make a tree too thick for anyone to cutt down.
If they couldn't cutt it down, they wouldn't be omnipotent.
If they could cutt it down, they wouldn't be omnipotent.
So how does omnipotence work? I know that it most likely doesn't exist, but its still a theory I've had in my mind for a while.
Thanks.

It enters into a stage of both being cut down and not being cut down at the same time, of course you simply get around this by stating it must always be one or the other and you're stuck again.
Omnipotence doesn't exist, and I know for a fact that dapper agrees on that. |

oh you mean like a dictator? |
|
|
No, a dictator has limited power, we're talking about unlimited power.
In other words it's hypothetically the power to do anything, and thus paradoxes arrive which is why it's impossible. |

i dont get it |

I know that omnipotence doesn't exist, but I mean the theory of it.
Also, omnipotence is when a being can do whatever they want, even if it defies the laws of physics.

If an all powerful being created an unliftable rock could he lift it?
If he can he isn't all powerful since he failed to create an unliftable rock, if he can't he isn't all powerful since he couldn't lift it. |

Omnipotence isn't a theory, it's both philosophically and practically impossible.
It's an idea some people have, however, in any situation, in any world, no matter the laws, it's impossible. |

thomas get off my account |
|

It's not a matter of being illogical, it's a matter of it being impossible, it's self defeating, self contradictory, it's impossible.
Imagination is fine, however when you believe that your imagination is part of reality, you're insane. |
