I have a meaty 6 string bass so it enables me to play crazy solos and play the guitar riffs to mainly guitar songs like One by Metallica. Adds flavor to it especially since the bass doesn't exist on that album |
|
|
i had a 6 string electric
it is now a 5 string because it couldn't handle how djent i tried playing

guitar or bass..? |

electric guitar fam

i play bass
nothing better than a good old vintage P bass with a 50s style body - i love the slab effect as long as it doesn't drill your right arm while playing |

yeah you shouldve probably got the guitar set up before you detuned it to hell
youre supposed to keep a guitar in a single tuning. if you tune it to different tunings daily itll give the neck a heart attack and the guitar will end up sounding like crap
it can handle djent-- just not people who are not experienced in caring for a guitar
if you wanna play heavy stuff like that, go to a guitar shop (not guitar center because those idiots usually have no idea what youre talking about) and tell him that you want to tune to drop A or something along those lines if youre going heavy
hell adjust the neck and tune it to the preferred tuning and from there you need to only tune it back to Drop A if needed |

i have an ESP LTD B206SM that I have tuned to A standard (ADGCFA#)
wonderful guitar with a beautiful body and sound (though it seems more accustomed to metal and hot/fuzzy jazz lines) |
|
|
i was in standard
i rarely ever tune down unless i actually want to play a song i like to listen to
i was playing Sweet Child O Mine at the time and the high E string snapped lmao

get D'addario strings
never get those ernie ball slinkies
my god they are so bad
youll notice that d'addarios sound amazing even when theyre "dead" compared to ernie balls
they also last 3 times as long from my experience
i still havent put on my new set of strings because there isnt any particular need yet |
|
|
call me crazy, but one of the best basses i've ever played was a squier jaguar short scale
i've played USA fenders and a rickenbacker and the feel i got from the squier was directly on par with the fenders
of course nothing comes close to rickenbacker
spotless reputation |

my rule of thumb
you can only drop tune the lowest string for short periods of time so that ur neck doesnt have a heart attack
i usually drop to drop D on my other guitars because it doesnt really do anything to them
ps if you want crazy songs to play without drop tuning low play job for a cowboy songs they play in Drop D and sound nut crunchingly heavy |

well (i think) squier is a fender brand name so obviously theyd feel very similar. |
|
|
i had ernie ball power slinky's on
im now out of them so can't play for a while :(
