Hello everyone. I'm Veloric.
I am a scripter from the Clans & Guilds subforum.
I now present to you my idea;
You know how rblx.Lua has :GetRoleInGroup() and :GetRankInGroup(), well today I am petitioning to add :SetRoleInGroup() into the mix of function.
-> How it will work
It will work like this - You'd need 3 parameters while using this, a group id and role to set.
- For example.
game.Players.PlayerAdded:connect(function(plr)
if plr.Name == "Veloric" then
plr:SetRoleInGroup(7013, "Conscript")
end
end)
The above script will change my rank in RAT(7013) to "Conscript" roleset whenever it is ran.
-> Why add it?
Clans have been ignored for the longest of time - this will >help< fix clans and restore them to what they were.
It's a step in the right direction.

I support this, as this would help give a LOT more time back to the officers incharge of promoting EVERY SINGLE "Candidate/Recruit/Cadet/Etc" in _____ (group), after they complete ______ (in game objective).
So for example, this could be used when awarded a badge for completing an obby.
Or maybe given when the player reaches a certain amount of "points".

The only PROBLEM with this, is that people without enough group power in said group, might be able to use this function to give them the role of a high rank.
How this can be avoided though, is if roblox decides to make a system where Studio actions/scripts affect the Roblox website.
Doing so of course will allow many many exploits to be done on the game, but, if done correctly, and after some time, they will be patched like always.
Again, we all know how often Roblox listens to these petitions though..

No, as the SERVER runs the scripts, not players, that would never happen.

Yes, but I'm saying that someone could just add this function to let's say.. A badge.
And then put said badge on a spawn.
And then change their rank to a High Rank just by touching it.
And the server wouldn't be able to tell the difference, because if the server doesn't have an account to run the command through, then it's running through the client, and it'll be all like "Oh, welp, guess I have perms to do this!!"
Apart of this "function" has to be a whole new update where the Server ties to a player account, and or, you are allowed to make it a group game, and then give the group game Permissions/ a "rank" to allow it to promote people.
Basically TL;DR:
The server has to be able to have permissions to do it, and not just do it because you tell it to, and it can work like one of the "group _____(game's, ad's, model's, etc)" instead as a "Group entity".
