@raymond
that's terrible advice if your amp has a mid hump on the distortion channel |
My amp doesn't have a mid setting on it. The amp I use is meant for amp gain. It has 3 different channels (orange, green, and red) and ranges from the 1950's to the 2000's. |

yeah im stuck with a solid state and they aren't really good for high gain compared to tubes so im probably going to end up making or buying a metal muff |
Why not just buy an actual pedal? There are several pedals you can buy and edit on your computer to sound like a specific band. |
my tone pedals are micro metal muff, digitech black 13, digitech grunge, dod death metal, mxr blue box (c11 mod switch) and ibanez ds-7. micro metal muff and digitech grunge are my personal favourites for simple downright nice distortion |

There is also this app called BiasFX which has the sound of practically every amp and pedal you will ever need.

what is the issue in me making a pedal instead of buying it for $90 |
Making a pedal could easily go wrong if not done correctly. I'm not implying you cannot do it, but it's easier and safer to buy a pedal you can edit on your computer rather than make your own pedal and risk it screwing up. There are several pedals you can purchase, download a software, and tailor it to get several band tones you can switch between at a live gig. |

im not bringing my laptop to a diy venue when they don't even have a pc to run the mixing
if anything goes wrong, ill fix it. it's not like ill electrocute myself. pedals dont have enough amplitude to kill you with 5 volts |

I have a vandoren 3 1/2 reed and i have a buffet r13 |

You don't need to bring a PC with you. All you have to do is download the tone you want to one of the five pedal switches on the board and switch between each one by stepping on them. That's why we're all suggesting you to buy a pedal. Making one will be unnecessary as you will have to build a bunch of pedals to match the tones you want and then build a pedal board to fuse all of them. You could avoid that by buying one to begin with. |
