we should be back in the ahl where we belong. our arena is too good for the ahl. whenever some kids from kingston, north bay or sudbury come to our arena their like "ohhhhhhh" it brings them tears
our arena is nhl/ahl quality, and if we can't get an nhl franchise, we can sure get an ahl franchise.

you literally had an AHL team for 20 years
your attendance was never good and dropped 10% last season to 9th worst in the league so the team literally moved
now you have an OHL team that will probably die too

The arena is probably the only thing to good for the OHL. |
|

@cheesey we lost attendance because after 2007 the habs sent down bad players that got worse. |

A good arena means nothing if its empty
|

i went to an AHL game in hamilton a few years ago, i don't even think 1000 fans had shown up to the game.

ya'll are seriously gonna bash me because i want an ahl team in my city? then go away.
what do you expect if the team is trash? you expect like 17,000 fans to show up? go away.
and to the people that say "oi the leafs are trash but they average 18,000 fans every game" dood, it's because it's the nhl. the nhl is more popular than the ahl. there's not gonna be 10,000 fans in an ahl game every time.
i still want ahl hockey in my hometown. our arena is too good for the ohl, and we shouldn't embarrass ourselves by relocating to a city like st. johns.
hockey in the marintimes is a big no. |

"A good arena means nothing if its empty"
tell that to man city supporters lmao |

"what do you expect if the team is trash? you expect like 17,000 fans to show up? go away."
1000 fans is not enough regardless of how bad the team is you goof.
idk why you act like the OHL is bad anyways, it's really better than the AHL. the AHL literally only consists of players who will never play more than 5 games in the NHL, washed up veterans, MAYBE one or two good prospects, and a few more decent prospects. the OHL on the other hand consistently produces future NHL stars and top prospects. you get to cheer players who you know will become future NHL stars where there's a much higher attendance.
here's a list of just some of the people drafted in the past two years from the OHL in the first round (pretty much all the notable ones): connor mcdavid (1), dylan strome (3), mitch marner (4), matthew tkachuk (6), olli juolevi (5), alexander nylander (8), jakob chychrun (16), mikhail sergachev (9), pavel zacha (6)
want a list of NHL all-stars form this year who are former OHLers? okay: aaron ekblad, ryan o'reilly,############################################################################################################################################################################################################################################# |

He ignored my post about the arena being the only thing to good for the OHL cause he knows I'm right. |

Hamilton had a NHL team in the 1920s and they had probably the most hilarious reason to fold/relocate in NHL history. |
|
|
@ken maybe.
@totally lel if that happened in today's nhl, there'd be a worser result
besides, they would've folded anyway.
@death rofl junior hockey is one of the most boring types of hockey i've seen in my LIFE. "oi u fight 20 times in a season u get suspended" |

"rofl junior hockey is one of the most boring types of hockey i've seen in my LIFE"
You haven't watched any junior hockey then?
|
|
|
Junior hockey isn't boring. It's just way overrated in Canada. |
|
|
The Marlies did better than Hamilton |
|
|
""oi u fight 20 times in a season u get suspended""
so you're saying that fighting not being allowed makes junior hockey boring? great logic.

@determined The Bulldogs have won one Calder Cup. The Marlies? Uhhh... ya.
@Death I'm implying that junior hockey is boring. It's really boring, I just can't bring myself up to like it. |

every OHL game i've went to has been 100x more exciting than the AHL game i went to but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's actually kind of funny that they put an OHL team in Hamilton, because the AHL and NHL owners don't want to admit that they screwed up. It's pretty funny, imo. |
|
|
I'm pretty sure AHL owners don't have much control over team relocation (teams pretty much constantly relocate because NHL affiliates want their team to be near the NHL team while still giving some profit). You have to realize that the lease on Hamilton's arena isn't cheap, and probably was putting the team into the red thanks to the terrible attendance. Going to St. Johns (which is a better hockey market than you think, albeit not NHL worthy) has resulted in better attendance and an improved lease deal.
I don't see how NHL owners have anything to do with this lol. If you're trying to say Hamilton would be a good expansion location then you'd need to actually have had good AHL attendance even with a bad team...then again you've been talking out of your ass for pretty much this entire thread.
