After thinking this over, I realize that all the pieces are basically in place. -Arena that will be up to date with modern day NHL arenas -A much more devoted fan base than Arizona, Florida, and Carolina -A team in Quebec is almost guaranteed to make money for the NHL Sometimes, I really do question the decisions of Betteman.

Plus the rivalry with Montreal would come alive. Florida should have good attendance with the team they have imo.

Montreal is why. The Canadiens have influence in the NHL and putting a team in Quebec City means less fans for them which hurts their business. That's pretty much what it comes down to.

@eb I've actually never heard that argument, but I guess the Montreal owner would be complaining about it behind closed doors lol RIP Koolboy123, Oct. 1, 1992-Apr. 27, 2016 ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ

Sure, but there is still a ton of Nordiques fans out there. Plus, the battle of Quebec between the habs and possibly the nords could be a thing again.

Yeah but I doubt the Canadiens owners would be willing to let a new Quebec City team cut into their market just so an old rivalry can be renewed.

Pretty sure the NHL's official statement on this matter was the uncertainty over the Canadian dollar. /ℯ ςαℸωℴღαη

Even with the uncertainty of the Canadian dollar, I am 90% sure that Quebec would make a lot more money for the league than Arizona is losing for the league.

I literally have no idea why the Panthers still exist. When I think how Tampa Bay, a franchise that has been far far far more successful in its history, in 2015 nearing the finals was still on the cusp of breaking even financially, I can't imagine how long it'd take the Panthers to do the same. Not to mention Forbes literally rips on the Panthers calling hockey in Miami a catastrophe. /ℯ ςαℸωℴღαη

The NHL tries to use players coming from these areas as a way of justifying these financial train wrecks. Look at Matthews, comes from Arizona and the NHL boasts about it yet the Coyotes are a mess right now and would probably be better off relocated to a more stable hockey market.

Quebec, quebec city is a great city for hockey. And why not Seattle? The Seahawks are the loudest fans, they have even measured it. The support the WHL team gets is also awesome. And the Mariners.....Seattle has an amazing fanbase.... Don't forget the Sounders

I'd love to see an NHL team in Seattle but idk about the interest there from the city or any groups looking to put a team there.

If there's any American city that needs an NHL franchise, it's Seattle. They were the first American hockey club to win the Stanley Cup. As for a Canadian expansion, I'd like to see Saskatoon and Quebec City get teams. My hometown city Hamilton can't get a team because Toronto and/or Buffalo will block it :{

What needs to happen is Bill Foley needs to realize that there are way better markets out there than Las Vegas.

I don't mind taking a swing at Vegas and seeing what happens if it doesn't work out the NHL can pull a Thrashers and relocate them to a more stable market
