I created a long post about why paid models would be good for roblox yesterday but many people either didn't read it or thought it was a complaint thread so i'll make a quick summary and post the link to the old post.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________
Quick Summary:
Giving the option to SELL MODELS would REMOVE THE NEED TO TRUST GROUPS when buying a shirt for one. Players would NOT BE ABLE TO BOT MODELS FOR MONEY. REPUTATION SYSTEM DISCOURAGES viruses, scammers, and using free models in paid ones. Roblox, bc, and possibly even nbc could profit depending on what roblox does (taxation like game-passes?). Higher quality models would be made. Players can visit places to examine models before purchase.

Link to old post if you have the time to read through more sentences than an essay or want to looks at the pros of doing this (and don't be scared away by the title, its good because models can't be botted, not for other reasons):

I forgot to mention as scammers I meant people trying to sell a model more than once (though I don't see the point of that since the new owner now has the option to post it for free) |

No.
Models are called FREE models for a reason. The proper way to earn robux is by selling products, not builds that can be added to your game. This wouldn't eve accomplish what you want because there would be the 30% tax, so you wouldn't even get as much money with them as you would through groups. |
|
|
I'll be back on later to look at, and reply to, replies since I'm going to be away from my computer for a couple hours |
|
|
@chat Oh, so you don't want people earning money off of their hard work unless they make a whole game for you, I see. |
|
|
@chatowillwin the problem is people have to blindly trust groups, which makes less people buy the models and less profit for groups. |

someone buy's another person's model. That someone then starts selling it him/herself. original creator gets nothing

@swordwilder groups already sell people models and take the risk that people will take credit for it or sell it in another group. also in the original post i said it should be a one time sale (like how some groups do) and then the other person that the original creator sold to can do whatever they want with the model, so the original creator has the responsibility to sell for whichever price they think is best, while thinking about if the other tried to resell it and if it would be worth it to wait for more offers. |
|
|
@swordwilder also the original creator would get something since they get the robux once they sell it to the new owner, unlike now where creators can only sell models for free (which discourages people from selling high quality models). Original creators would get nothing from people that resell it, but they would get nothing at all if it stays the same. Also isn't reselling already a problem with clothing? why should we not be able to sell models for that reason when the problem already happens with the current items on the catalog |

@army
Kay, I can see it working that way. Now let's just hope roblox reads S&G for once

No, it'll probably end up being something like paid mods for skyrim. Where people ripped off others mods and charged them.

@joeani I already sent this reply to swordwilder so i'll just copy and paste it even though its only 4 posts up.
"groups already sell people models and take the risk that people will take credit for it or sell it in another group. also in the original post i said it should be a one time sale (like how some groups do) and then the other person that the original creator sold to can do whatever they want with the model, so the original creator has the responsibility to sell for whichever price they think is best, while thinking about if the other tried to resell it and if it would be worth it to wait for more offers."
also before you ask
"Original creators would get nothing from people that resell it, but they would get nothing at all if it stays the same. Also isn't reselling already a problem with clothing? why should we not be able to sell models for that reason when the problem already happens with the current items on the catalog" |

@joeani try subtracting 1 from the id on a shirt or pants on the catalog and you'll see what i mean. you can save the texture and re-post the shirt. which means even if they allowed people to sell models and they were resold, it would be the same as clothing items like shirts or pants. |

OP just wants to copy models to make money

@Number_Thirteen No i don't, that is why i recommended a reputation system in my original post. I would appreciate it if you didn't accuse me of things like that without reading the original post first. |

@Number_Thirteen Also, before you say other people are going to copy models, i've said many times that people ALREADY COPY CLOTHING. This shouldn't stop models since its already a problem with clothing. |

Borsy is right 100% lol

And? At least most actually are transparent, as for models, it's different. Sometimes, people don't even know there's a free version of some model, so yeah.
Plus, they can add some annoying banner into the model.
Oh, and thanks for hurting my brain, I had to come up with a point to counter your stupid point.

@Number_Thirteen
I said models not scripts, and if you check the original post i said:
"You could have players visit your place, examine the models, purchase the models, and then use them however they want." |
|
|
"I said models not scripts"
now i'm not entirely convinced you know how the studio works.

and yes i know you can put scripts in models but you'd still be able to show people how the script works in one of your places. Also the reputation system I mentioned would make it so less people buy from that player due to a low reputation making it so they know that they probably shouldn't buy scripts or models from them. |

Forget it, paid models is a stupid idea, it always has been, nobody wants to pay R$ for stupid models especially after the removal of Tix.

@Number_Thirteen I wish you would explain why its a bad idea rather than just saying "nobody wants to pay R$ for ###### models especially after the removal of Tix."
(I censored that word because i'd rather not risk getting reported)
Also groups selling models using shirts as the payment process shows that people would pay robux for higher quality models. If people put up low quality models people could just use the old free models. |
