Happy Halloween Everyone!
I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Halloween. It was very busy around here a couple days ago. I would have thought that older kids would not go out trick or treating but it seems as they get older they just do things differently and have what is probably an even better time than the younger ones.
The “gang” that my kids hang out with had a round robin Halloween party that went from house to house with about six parents. There was a last minute rush during the day on Saturday with me putting the final touches on the girl's costumes. They all dressed up as different Disney princesses and had a great time but it meant a LOT of sewing for me. The boys were into zombies so that was pretty easy for them to handle on themselves (neatness does not count when you are a zombie).
The surprise of the day was the girls dressed up the monster mutt as a ballerina. Complete with tutu and head band. Fortunately he did not seem to mind but the thought of having to deal with a cross dressing dog is too much to contemplate right now. Also of all of them he is the one sick this morning from too many dog biscuits. Brains are not one his gifts by any measure.
Everyone gathered for the start of things at our house and then moved out from here. A great time was had by all and they all ended up back here about 10:30. Several of the kids I offered to drive home and then came the surprise.
When I dropped off the last two girls Mom met us in the driveway and things got really quiet. Seems both girls were grounded and were told not to leave the house but they go dressed up anyway, left a note telling where they were going (which was a good thing) and then headed out. It was clear Mom was in no mood for their activities and some sore bottoms were going be produced.
Then came one of those fate full moments that when it occurs you know it was wrong. One of the girls on hearing that she was going to be spanked made the snide comment, “It was worth it.” Bad move and I think she realized it as soon it came out of her mouth.
Then I was invited in to witness whether “it was worth it.” Costumes were quickly removed in the living room and a fearsome dose of the brush was administered. This was the sort of spanking that made me even cringe a bit and feel sorry for the girl flailing over mother’s lap.
Then with both girls ####### ####### ### ####### and still in the babbling mode mother disappeared and came back with the Rump Roaster. This is a novelty paddle that was probably sold by some store along the highway with the name Rump Roaster ######### on it and the picture of a ####### boy with flaming red bottom. But the paddle is no joke. It was made out of wood and was probably 10 inches long with a handle and upon seeing it the girls babbling became frantic.
Over the back of the chair they went pleading for mercy the best they could for six very hard swats on an already sore bottom all delivered on the same place on the sit spot. The howls probably were loud enough to raise the dead and I thought if I were in their position I would have probably died at that point.
There was lots of babbling, crying, snot and tears and dancing and rubbing for at least 5 minutes until they calmed down enough to answer mother’s question if it really was worth it to which they both sobbed, “No.”
The girls slunk off to their rooms and Mom and I sat in the kitchen for a while and talked about things. I must say this was quite a spanking and I wish in a way that mine would have seen it because they would have seen that my punishments, although memorable, were not as bad.
While boys may come up with stupid things from time to time that does not mean that girls cannot say some regrettable things. Clearly saying, “It was worth it,” is probably not a phrase they will use for a while.
Blessings,
