With the release of RoR's Demo so close at hand, I decided it was fitting to release my story. Everything you are about to read is all true. At least, to the best that I can remember. I've had many adventures during my time in BnB. It all felt like a book, and I was its aspiring protagonist.
When I remember the day I first played BnB. It was over a year ago when I was searching through Roblox's extensive list of games. Up until that point I hadn't cared that much about Game of Thrones. I barely knew anything about it, and from what knowledge I had from it the whole thing sounded too dark for me. But when I saw the cover of BnB (with about 150-200 players at that moment) I thought it sounded interesting. I don't know why I went there. Perhaps out of sheer boredom or maybe because I wanted to Game of Thrones another try? Needless to say, I joined a server and thus began my journey.
My character popped in the middle of a clearing of a forest, a bunch of random "Neutrals" were stabbing and slicing each other. I was looking through the list of weapons trying to see what I should get, when suddenly one of them attacked me with a broadsword. I quickly chose the first weapon I could find, a spear, and tried to fight off my opponent. However since I hadn't looked at how the combat controls worked, I shortly perished.
The second time I respawned instead of waiting around to be slaughtered again, I made sure to get myself armed with a broadsword. I was attacked by another "Neutral" but this time I was actually aware of how combat worked. Without blocking (because I didn't fully understand how it worked) I knocked down my adversary, but not without having my HP lowered to 20%. When I looked at his body I saw a text box that gave me the usual choices of saving or finishing him off. Just when I was about to finish him off, some Lannister came running out of nowhere and did it for me. Then I saw more Lannisters arrive, all going about the field butchering the "Neutrals." To avoid their fate I fled to a more peaceful location.
I waited for a bit, then when the Lannisters returned to their tents I joined in the fray. I began to practice fighting, using the different weapons: Spear, broadsword, mace, dagger, axe, rapier, and greatsword. I believe I spent an hour or so 'practicing'. Though I wasn't exactly on the lines of a master fighter, I thought my skill and understanding was sufficient enough. It was time for to go out and see what else BnB had to offer. I left the middle of map, traveling south-west to the Westerlands camp. I had saw them earlier in combat, they looked sufficient to me.
I watched from afar as the Westerlanders chatted and practiced. They looked quite professional, reminding me the Roman Empire. I liked their armor, their styles, it looked all appealing. I wasn't much of a person to join groups on Roblox, but I could tell this looked promising.
Sheepishly I approached a Mariband Master at Arms. He greeted me in a friendly manner, and we had a nice conversation. He asked if I was looking for a group to join, which I replied "Yes." He offered me an invitation to join his house which I readily accepted. When I 'joined', I was confused on how my join was currently 'pending'. I asked him why this was the case. He told me that I had to be accepted by an HR before I could join. I asked how long that would take. He told me a day or so.
I wasn't interested in waiting.
I asked where I could find an HR, he told me a few of them were residing in a tent. I thanked him, and went off to go get their attention. When I reached the tent I was blocked by a Lannister Guardsman who pointed a spear at me to shove off. I pleaded him to let me in but he refused. I tried to reason with him, saying I wanted to join House Mariband. Again he refused. I couldn't take it any longer, so I decided to walk in. He didn't approve of that much. He cut me down.
The next half-hour was comical, as I made numerous (non violent) attempts to get inside. Which were all met with violent denial. Just when I was on the brink of leaving and finding a new game, the Master at Arms came in. I complained to him how he denied me entrance, and how he continually harassed me by hitting me. The Master rebuked the soldier and lead me inside. There I met a some high ranking Marbands and Lannisters. Shortly, I was ranked. Using my own tix, I funded myself and bought their uniforms. I thanked them for offering their time to rank me.
Though my efforts had resulted in great success, I still doubted if BnB was right for me. But all doubts I would carry would soon fade away. I would change. I would have a realization of what my purpose would be in BnB. Which all came from my participation in
my first skirmish.
The moment I joined the Riverlands.
