alas after 30 hours into the game and.... the game is just good but it isn't anywhere near great or amazing i appreciate all the new things its trying to do, and for some parts it succeeds i love riding pokemon, its absolutely a blast, what a great way to get rid of the hm however i have a number of issues with the game and some relate to gamefreak as a whole first off, does anyone find it weird gamefreak removes and adds features? look at the medal system, the pokenav, and more. they literally pick and choose. hmm, lets keep amie (yeah i know they changed crap) but throw super challenge. why remove the pss? it was great having the online functions always there accessible at the bottom screen now you relegate it to a separate place? i must go there to get request? i don't get gamefreak, they had a great system that they just changed. second, the trials. people have been saying how they "change the game." I'm here saying they are a mixed bag. i love the totem pokemon. they actually provide a sense of challenge where most gym leader don't. they are also impressive to look at as well. however, the actual tasks are hit and miss. why? MOST OF THEM ARE FETCH QUESTS. what kind of BS is this people say it has "variety" where most of it is just go here and there or find this and that. at least with gyms you had puzzles and things to do. if the feature was to return, add puzzles and more interesting mechanics. every trial is a freaking fetch quest and its annoying. some work some don't. id also like to address the story. now, i actually liked x and y. however, my main issue was the awful story. to me, rpgs must at least have some sense of story for me to be compelled (you are asking me for 30+ hours of time). that's why i loved black and white. i appreciate what they are trying to do with sun and moon. i really do. in fact i like how they are taking a more cinematic approach. that being said... i have issues. first off, they need to provide snappier dialogue. some of the writing feels off. for example, in the beginning hau just appears out of nowhere and its like LETS BATTLE I DONT KNOW YOU. i get it, they need to move the plot along, but at the sacrifice of making an actual story flow? the dialogue is just off sometimes where it feels like its either exposition or just trying to push you through quick. and when it does go slower and has quiet moments, ITS GREAT. it makes the cinematics moments feel earned and more triumphant. the overall story i would say is fine. i will say Lillie needs some ironing out as a character though. she is a very by the numbers character for most of the game.

also theres performance this game is gorgeous runs like ***** when it tries to be cinematic in battles WHAT ***** gamefreak cant optimize their games don't tell me its too big smash can hit 60 fps on a NORMAL 3ds with that amount of content you think with the bajongas amount of money they can a make a game run decent also, the customization is still lacking. i liked the feature in x and y, but somehow they have LESS options in a sequel? WHAT!?!??!?! also, to dye some shirts you need stuff from festive plaza!?!?? THE **** with the garbage gamefreak why are they still so backwards with game design sometimes it bogs my mind overall, i think the game is good would i say its better than oras? yeah by a mile x and y? see that's where i may disagree i know all of you will disagree but this game feels like a step back yet a step forward i appreciate the new ideas that they put forward but oddly enough they took a step back in some ways the online features are worse. the trials while good in theory really amount to fetch quests where it could have been so much more. the story while i appreciate trying to feel cinematic falls back because of its force dialogue and generic characters (Lillie can literally be a thousand other JRPG characters) the performance is also something they didn't learn the region itself is fine, it oddly feels empty at points but i let it slide more as it isn't bad but it does feel like gamefreak is learning full 3d worlds (as x and y was 8 directional) id probably give it a 7.5/10 personal opinion but i think half of the new pokemon look like **** lol probably why i may not like the game as much

oh yea i forgot to mention another negative F************************************* CALL FOR HELP 1st time: woa cool 2nd time: neat 3rd time: ok 4th time: i guess 5th: you kidding me? 6th: F******** 7: KILL ME 8: Here likes RIP seriously its a neat feature especially for totem pokemon but the rate of it needs tweaking for crying out loud EVERY pokemon uses it especially early game when you are trying to catch pokemon man it is ANNOYING you don't have moves that can automatically KO pokemon yet and what will happen most of the time is right after you faint its friend it calls another one AGAIN how i would remedy it: -limit it to totems and bosses -once per battle -make it so it cant ATTACK and CALL FOR HELP (like seriously tf?)

I just don't like how they went away from Pokemon a little. Ultra Beasts? They tried to make pokemon, an anime, realistic. It definitely is good. I will prob get it for Christmas, but we will see. I hope they make 3DS Red, Blue, Yellow remakes.

"Ultra Beasts" are basically (spoilers) Pokémon from an other dimension, just like how countless legendries are from "another dimension."
