This lore is subject to future change/revisions The Anchor began with a fisherman named Jones Bernstein. To others he appeared to be a natural at fishing. No matter how long he spent at the seaside, he always had a catch worth his time. Not only was he good at catching, but he could prepare and cook nearly anything that swam. He used most of his catches for feeding himself, relatives and friends. However one day he was complemented on his culinary skill, and it was suggested he take advantage of his talent and use it for a living. He began a small stand in Whitman Bay, selling whatever he caught the night before, and that morning. Jones began to question his choice of a kosher diet. Soon he gave that up, and started selling prepared and/or cooked seafood including cuisine that would normally not be allowed in a kosher diet such as shellfish. He sold to Whitman Bay residents or anyone passing through. After around a year of selling from a shack, he could afford to rent out a vacant building at the shore for $15 a month. Once he established business, he named his restaurant "The Anchor". As The Anchor grew in popularity, more staff was hired. This included additional fisherman so Jones would not have to catch everything himself, and a few kitchen/wait staff for customers.
