Manual of Arms & Manual of Drills | 1st Pennsylvania Rifles The 1st Pennsylvania Rifles Regiment is a revolutionary war group regiment connected to Continental Army following the tradition that we know as today, "Line Battling." [Change may occur if updates are necessary.] ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ I. Boundary Commands: Shoulder To Shoulder: Used to gather up a rally, or organize into one, begins with a center turn. In order to form a proper STS, each individual soldier must have their shoulders faced to the one standing alongside them. An STS must have an even spacing between, to where at least an officer can walk through. To be more historical, "Line Formation" would sound professional, furthermore; proper. Address to the left: Soldiers within the line will move down 6 paces down to their left. Address to the right: Soldiers within the line will move down 6 paces to their right. Form left line formation: All soldiers will form into a line to the right of the officer. Form right line formation: All soldiers will form into a line to the right of the officer. Single File Line: All soldiers will form an evenly straight line behind the officer. II. Turns: Center turn : Automatically faces the front. Left turn: Soldiers within the line turn 90 degrees to their left. Right turn: Soldiers within the line turn 90 degrees to their right. About turn: Soldiers within the line turn 180 degrees. III. Inclines: Right incline: Soldiers within the line will turn 45 degrees to their right. Left incline: Soldiers within the line will turn 45 degrees to their left. IV. Formations: Arrowhead formation: You have seven men in the line. For each soldier, they must step back two more paces. The first soldier in the middle will move two paces back, the next two that are next to him will step back four paces. The next two soldiers will move six paces back. Then, the remaining soldiers will move eight paces back. When this is complete, the shape should look like a "V." Stagger formation: Forms a "Checker" line. You have three men in one line, the soldier in the middle will take two paces back, the last two soldiers remaining within the line will stand their current position. The last two soldiers that are in their position is called "Rank 1." The third soldier, who is two paces behind, is called "Rank 2." When doing a firing line with this stagger formation, rank one will fire first. After rank one reloads, rank two will advance and fire. After rank two has finished reloading, rank one will do the same. Square Formation: All soldiers will form a square shape around the officer. The soldiers guarding must be four paces separate from the officer. When this formation is organized, soldiers must have their Rifles present and remain in a guarding position to verify the officer is safe; Square Formation is also used to counter cavalry charges. Wedge formation: For example if you are in a line consisting of 5 soldiers, the middle soldier will step two paces forward. The two soldiers on the left and right of the middle soldier will step one pace forward. The two remaining soldiers on the end will not move. This forms a triangle shape, though, without its bottom to complete the shape. If there is another soldier present, the soldier can join by forming/filling the bottom of the Wedge. Defensive Formation: For example, you have raiders charging at you from a distance. The officer commands defensive formation to be formed; you will quickly and flawlessly respond and organize into a line of one. While you are in defensive formation, you must always have your Rifles "At Ready" [Right click.] The officer will then order you to present and fire, all raiders are successfully wiped out. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ I. Marching Commands | Prepare March: When "Prepare March" is called, all soldiers must not be AFK, and ready to advance. Kick: This indicates that the march is about to advance. March!: When the march command is called, all soldiers in line will move with their patrol leader. Prepare Halt!: This indicates that the march is about to stop. Halt!: When the halt command is called, all soldiers within the line will stop as soon as the patrol leader stops. "Prepare Halt!" Must be called before "Halt!" Is commanded. II. Field Marching Commands | Imagine you are in a line battle, the marching commands will be different from what you've reviewed; this is so we are moving quickly and avoid being shot. Forward March: All soldiers will flawlessly advance and remain in formation until the officer commands halt. Halt: All soldiers will perform an immediate stop after it is commanded, and should still be in formation. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ I. Musket Commands: Trail Arms: [K] Ground Arms: [J] Advance Arms: [H] Make Ready: [Left Click] Present: [1st Person and Right Click] Order Arms: [Meaning to confine/put away muskets, or any weapon.] Support Arms: [F when you have shoulder arms.] Slope Arms: [G] Prepare Charge: [X] II. Firing lines: Blanket Fire: This firing line consists of deadly sheets, during this firing line, an officer will tell you to fire how many sheets/rounds he or she wishes for (Eg: 5 sheets of firing). When the blanket fire is ordered, everyone will fire altogether, as if you are performing a volley fire. Volley Fire: When you are commanded to volley fire, every soldier within the line will fire altogether at once. Ripple Fire: When performing a ripple fire, every soldier within the line will fire as the line goes down (One by one). The soldier on the side of the officer will fire first. Grapeshot-Outwards: This firing line is well used in the arrowhead formation. When the arrowhead formation is first formed, the first soldier within the line will fire first, the next rank will fire second, the following rank will fire third. Grapeshot-Inwards: This firing line is well used in the arrowhead formation. When using this firing line, it is the opposite of the Grapeshot-Outwards. The last rank fires first, the rank that is in front of the last will fire second, after the second rank fires, the final soldier will fire. III. Sabre Commands | Sword at Side: Have your sword at your sides. Present Saber: Saber is displayed Sheath Sabers: Put away sabers IV. PTS | Permission To Speak: If told "PTS is in effect." And if you wish to speak, you will simply say "PTS" To the commanding officer. PTS In Effect: This is called during trainings so no interruptions occur when the officer is training. If PTS is not called, and if a soldier speaks, the soldier must be punished in whatever what the officer prefers. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ~Written and established by Regimental Commander, CapnBarbossa
