Citizens of Rockport, I am JonathanTheMuffin, and I’m running to be your Senator. For far too long have, we seen citizens run and win, Congressional elections only to fulfill their personal agenda. Most, not all, congressmen and congresswomen run for two things; power and fame. Unfortunately, we no longer find many people who run for the voice of the citizen and with good intentions. However, that’s about to change. This state has had many accomplishments throughout its lifetime. We have seen our fair share of downfalls and periods of utter distress and tragedy, but as a state, we overcame those events and learned from those mistakes. We’ve progressed in many ways, from little things such as laws to massive technological advances. However, something has happened to our great state. For terms now, we’ve been electing the wrong people into office. These people are to represent us. Not only to represent the citizen’s voice in Congress but to represent us to other states; representation of our great government. The citizens want their voice to be heard, and Rockport as a whole wants to compete with other states such as Firestone and Docklands to be the best state, yet we vote in people who don’t do that. In fact, they represent the polar opposite for Rockport; corruption and lies. As one former President of the United States had once said, “Government's first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives.” As a senator, I promise to you that I will not be like that. I’m not running for this position to fulfill my personal agenda, nor am I running for this position just to say, “I’ve been a Senator.” I’m running not for me, but for you; the citizens. Without citizens, this great government wouldn’t be able to function, yet many of our former congressmen tend to disregard what you have to say. Ignore the citizen’s voices and break the promises they’ve made. I will be drafting legislation that helps the common citizen. I will actively engage with Rockport’s various departments and other affiliated groups to ensure that they have the resources needed in order to operate, but also to ensure that they’re heard in Congress. The flaws in our government weren’t caused by one governor. The flaws in our government weren't created in one term. The flaws in our government were created by all of us. We have all played in a role in the flaws of our government from things such as voting for unqualified and unfaithful congresspeople. We’ve played a role in our flaws by proposing and passing legislation that hurt us negatively. But all of us, together as a state, as a group, as a representative democracy, can fix the flaws that we’ve created, and it all starts by voting for the right people to represent you in Congress. I ask that everyone looks past our differences and come together as a group to fix what’s need to be done. I ask that everyone comes together and votes for me, JonathanTheMuffin, as a member of the next Senate and the next Congress.
