Hello citizens of Norfolk, I have come here today to announce my candidacy for City Council of Norfolk. For those who don't know me, I'm currently a MCC. I was previously a Judge and City council and going for a second term.
First of all, you may be turned off to the fact that I was impeached. I wish to explain what happened here. The issue was that I violated the Bill of Rights. The bill in question here was passed before the Bill of Rights was. And 'A Bill to Define Election Regulations, Section IV' nullified the bill the same day the Bill of Rights was passed. So I feel this was just a politically motivated impeachment. Now I will say that it was a mistake, and I own up to it. Now that the Constitution and Bill of Rights are complete, I will never make that mistake again. As there is no longer any confusion to what the law is. Now, let's get on the the policy proposals.
I am a strong supporter of the right to own a gun. And if elected, I will advocate for that right. It is my believe that if law-abiding citizens own a gun, they are less likely to be killed. That being said, we also need commonsense restrictions. We cannot let citizens roam around town with automatics and military grade weapons. So I will pass laws that will restrict these types of guns.
It is important that guns do not get into the wrong hands, which is why on my first day in office, I will propose a system in which you must get a gun permit in order to legally own a gun. In order to obtain a gun permit, you must go through a process of background checks and a test in order to see if you fit the criteria for the permit.
As a conservative, I believe that our government should be smaller and more efficient. Government is for protecting it's citizens, not for controlling them. If I am elected Governor, I will lessen the grip of the state government on local governments. We need to give our citizens a voice, and one of the best ways of doing so is to create legislation which forces the Government to hold a referendum of a certain topic if it has enough support.
The citizens must have a City Council that they can look up to, and I feel that I am that person. I will be honest to the people of Norfolk, and I will never lie to them. I will admit when I am wrong, and I'll do my best to fix what I did. I want to be the Governor of every single citizen in Norfolk, no matter who they are or what party they are in, I will respect and work with them. I promise to work with both sides of the aisle. We cannot continue to not get anything done because we disagree with the party.
