Obviously, there’s been some blowback to the choice TheySinned (“Devon”) made to drop Ozzymen from his ticket. Some are screaming that it’s all one big plan to thrust Devon into the White House. Others are calling him terrible words. Some want Ozzymen to run himself. The list goes on. I want to clear up why exactly he was dropped and talk about what’s next.
To do this, we first need to talk about how and why he was brought on. It would seem most of us in NUSA have an extremely short memory. If you’ll recall, Ozzymen — prior to the merge — had already been punished by the FEC for bribing people with jobs for votes. To add on to the growing list of problems for Ozzymen, the gap between him and TheySinned was beginning to close, fast. But, he was still ahead. He began wanting to merge with us. That’s why he skipped all the debates and refused to show up.
See, Ozzymen did the same thing to SuddenRush12G and I in July. Remember how he put in all that “work” just to merge anyways? Ozzymen merges when he can’t win. But what made it worse for Ozzymen this time is he was about to get disqualified by the FEC for scamming some poor kid. Now, I know Ozzymen is claiming that had he not merged he wouldn’t have been disqualified. That is patently false and follows no train of logic. Indeed, the FEC itself has come out and clarified that he was going to be disqualified whether he merged or not. This is ultimately why Ozzymen came over to us: he knew he was dead in the water.
The decision to bring Ozzymen on was not an easy one. I will be honest: this was a decision I was vocally against throughout the process. By the time Ozzymen began coming to us, asking Devon to let him be his running mate, we knew we were already onto something. Devon, however, sees Ozzymen as a friend. He was also surrounded by some of my staff who thought it would be a big “coup” to get Ozzymen on. Alas, my advice was ignored. (That’s okay, though. Not everything I ask for is granted.) Devon felt bad for Ozzymen: that’s what motivated primarily his choice to bring him on. He already was—more or less — friends with him, and seeing him about to be disqualified and more made him sympathetic.
So, why was Ozzymen dropped? Well, to answer that, we need to discuss exactly how his time as running mate went. Once we brought Ozzymen on, he was active for the first week. He was always on discord, in the strategy calls, and helping campaign. These are things that should be expected out of a number two candidate on a campaign. But it was not to be.
Very shortly after being brought on, Ozzymen went dark. He wasn’t campaigning. He wasn’t helping out. He was difficult for the staff to reach. To make it worse, he spent his time begging SuddenRush12G to make him the new White House Chief of Staff (which really offended and ticked off TheySinned and everyone working hard to help these two win) so he could play co-president for a little while instead of campaign. To put it simply: he wasn’t online. It was apparent that Ozzymen grew accustomed to being on a winning ticket, and decided he could do nothing and simply hitch onto the back of the car and ride gleefully into the vice presidency. He knew we were getting tired of him not helping out. SuddenRush12G, on multiple occasions at my request (because it got so bad I needed Sudden to contact Ozzy for us to get a response back) warned Ozzymen that we were getting tired of him being inactive. Hell, at one point, even Ozzymen said he was surprised we hadn’t dropped him from the ticket—that he thought he was about to be kicked off. Even he was aware he wasn’t helping.
Ozzymen also was cursing out our supporters on twitter, in December. That’s right. Ozzymen couldn’t handle himself for two months on twitter. It got so bad that I had to get him to give me tweetdeck access to his account to tweet generic things from his account to make him seem normal and active. That’s how inactive, and explosive, he was.
But all of that was, more or less, tolerable. We all figured because we made the choice to take him on, we’d be stuck with him. But it was very difficult when—quite literally—every voter we talked to that didn’t support TheySinned cited their apprehension as being because of one person: Ozzymen. They said he was a scammer. They said he was unhinged. They used every phrase and word in the book about him Ozzymen, as it turned out, hadn’t brought any intrinsic value to the campaign. Face it, one of the primary reasons campaign merges happen is because one candidate expects to be able to be on a winning ticket, and the other expects a raise in crucial support. That never happened. Still, though, we decided we had to stick with the choice we had made.
Then Devon’s sister got very, very sick. Devon had to be in the hospital and we needed Ozzymen to—for once—get up and be a running mate. We decided, collectively, that if Ozzymen couldn’t be there for TheySinned—this one, crucial, time—then we would have to seriously rethink our decision to bring him on. And, to nobody in the campaign’s surprise, Ozzymen held one rally (after SuddenRush12G, again, warned him). He wasn’t online otherwise. Devon then, just a few days ago, needed to talk to Ozzymen. He tried to get ahold of him, with no success. Then we sent one of the top staff, Devtools, to try. He messaged him on discord, tweeted at him, you name it. No response. At that point, Devon couldn’t do it anymore.
The fact of the matter is Devon was never comfortable with the decision he made, but was going to stick by it. Then, however, Ozzymen proved that he wasn’t putting in any work (no, holding one rally in two months is not putting in work), and couldn’t even be bothered to be there for Devon in his time of most need. I know he’s since been telling people he put so much work into the campaign: he’s lying. Ozzymen magically returned last night once he found out he was dropped and has already begun hatching new plans. And don’t deny it: because I know you see it happening. I know each and every one of you who reads this has been wondering where Ozzymen has been for the last two months.
The reality is Devon needs a vice president that America, and he, is comfortable with. I’m sorry Ozzymen wasn’t the right guy for Devon. It’s truly sad that it ended this way. We didn’t want it to, but Ozzymen made it very difficult for this not to happen. Presidents need vice presidents who they can trust 100% and are there for them. Devon made a choice and, being someone who was in the room and had to baby handle Ozzymen, I understand and agree with it completely.
I hope you will, too. Have a wonderful New Years, and may the Force be with you! |
