Drill Manual
DISCIPLINE
All Officers should establish that officers should be referred to as “Sir/Ma'am” and all lower ranks should be called by their rank, e.g. “Sergeant”.
Officers should be strict when introducing discipline in order to heavily enforce its ideals and requirements.
Officers should also establish that if you wish to speak in line you must request for “PERMISSION TO SPEAK SIR/MA'AM/[RANK]”
Recruits must know that there is a time and a place for seriousness and fun. While on duty at any of our places, all personnel are required to act mature and disciplined. Failure to show discipline and maturity at any of our places will result in demotion or exile.
BASIC COMMANDS
Talking Procedure
You must have permission to talk to the line commander by asking
‘PERMISSION TO SPEAK, [RANK]’, or ‘PERMISSION TO SPEAK, SIR/MA'AM’.
Falling out Procedure
You must have permission to fall out of the line to go BRB/AFK by asking
‘PERMISSION TO FALL OUT, [RANK]’, or ‘PERMISSION TO FALL OUT SIR/MA'AM’.
This also applies to falling in.
Spacing Procedure
You must not hold hands and leave 0.1 studs between the person standing on your left and right - unless told otherwise.
Passing Officers/Generals
When passing an Officer/General, you must salute them with the 'Salute' tool. The Officers and Generals of the British Army have their ranks for a reason, and deserve the utmost respect.

ADVANCED FIRING DRILLS
Volley fire
All men in line will fire a volley at the same time. The commanding officer of the line will say 'MAKE READY', ‘PRESENT’, ‘FIRE!’. Once the entire line fired, the commanding officer will say ‘RELOAD’ (R to reload). Once all men are ready, this process will repeat.
Ripple fire
All men in line will fire one after another. The commanding officer of the line will say ‘PREPARE TO RIPPLE FIRE FROM THE LEFT/RIGHT’, 'MAKE READY',‘PRESENT’, ‘FIRE!’. After all men have fired the commanding officer will say ‘RELOAD’ (R to reload). Once all men are ready, this process can be repeated.
Fire at will
All men in line will fire and reload in their own time. The commanding officer of the line will say, ‘PREPARE TO FIRE AT WILL’, 'MAKE READY',‘PRESENT’, ‘FIRE!’. From thereon, all men will fire and reload as they themselves please. Once the commanding officer says ‘CEASE FIRE!’, all men will stop shooting and will reload.
FORMATIONS
Stagger formation
All men will make a ‘zig-zag’ formation. Once the commander of the line says ‘PREPARE TO FORM STAGGER’, all men will count themselves from the right side. Every ‘1’ will stand still, whereas every ‘2’ will step back one pace when the correct command is called. Once the commanding officer of the line shouts ‘FORM STAGGER, MARCH’, all ‘2s’ will step back the length of a musket. To reform the shoulder-to-shoulder formation, the commanding officer will say ‘REFORM’.
Forming two ranks
All men in line will - like with forming a Stagger - count themselves from the right side. Every ‘1’ will stay put. Once the commanding officer says ‘PREPARE TO FORM TWO RANKS’, ‘FORM TWO RANKS, MARCH’, all ‘2s’ will move back the length of a musket. Afterwards, they will Right Turn, step up until they are at the level of the ‘1s’ and Left Turn again. Should the commander say ‘CLOSE ORDER TO THE RIGHT / LEFT’ ‘MARCH!’, all men will move left or right (depending on the order) to close any gaps. ‘CLOSE ORDER TO THE FRONT’ ‘MARCH!’ will fix the gaps between the ranks by having the Second Rank advance to meet the back of the Front Rank.
To reform a single rank again, the steps listed above will be done in reverse. ‘OPEN ORDER TO THE REAR’ ‘MARCH!’ will have the Second Rank move back. ‘OPEN ORDER TO THE LEFT / RIGHT’ ‘MARCH!’ will have both ranks open a one man gap between each other. ‘REFORM!’ will have the second rank diagonally to fill the gaps in the First Rank.
Left wheel
All men stand in a shoulder-to-shoulder unless stated otherwise. If the officer says ‘LEFT WHEEL, MARCH’, the person at the far left side of the line will turn left. All men will then fall in on his right, in the same order as before. You could compare it to opening a door.
Right wheel
All men stand in a shoulder-to-shoulder formation unless stated otherwise. If the officer says ‘RIGHT WHEEL, MARCH’, the person at the far right side of the line will turn right. All men will then fall in on his left, in the same order as before. This, naturally, works similarly to executing a left wheel. |
