if i had infinite moneys... I would get like the perfect soundtrack or something
but i have to make everything myself ):
"Pieces of a war in the mind,
I could use a little break,
From all this makes me cry,
Don't know where to go,
where to hide,
Maybe I could drive away,
They tell me to just keep moving along,
Waste no time.
You got to keep on moving along,
With arms made of steel,
__How can you feel?__
Life so surreal...
Just keep up, oh you keep up,
Now you armageddon soul,
armageddon soul,
breathe: just let it go,
armageddon soul..."
This would have been like *the perfect song* for the story I'm writing here... it's about the betrayed hero and all. Wookie: Destroyer of Worlds I guess.
You take Commander Shepard, or Master Chief, or I don't know, the Dovahkiin or Mario or Link or Fox McCloud (heh heh) or somebody like that, and you don't let them play any reindeer games.
See how well that goes.
The whole plot is all about betrayal, selfless sacrifice, and social corruption, it's also about the pressures of society being just as much an evil as Big Brother and all.
I'm probably also going to borrow the fox dying his fur black (or grey, to destroy the difference between him and the savage wolf), I'm already borrowing the white whale, the field of flowers, The Boss, undead plague (in a sci-fi story, yes. It's important to the plot that undead loved ones exist of the player character... just doing it without magic and more the result of experiments gone horribly wrong), etc. etc.
veryyy early on in development, just writing rough outline so I can come up with mechanics which amplify the mood and tone and whatever then tailor my 25% done game engine to suit those needs.
Dark grey and darker grey morality, suuupppeeerr edge but not *too* edgy, no one ever gets a happy ending -- that stuff is for sword art online lol, plenty of happy goody for you there. Sachi was the only one who mattered that died in that, (and *maybe Diabel + rest of MBC), not well... you know... everyone but Kirito and definitely NOT Asuna.
anthropomorphic characters are intentional, they juxtapose the mood and atmosphere (being a symbol for remnants of childhood innocence), implying nothing is safe from the dark black tendrils that reach out from the night. The bird specifically is a symbol of freedom, which turned it's back on the fox who needs it the most.
The only one who gets a 'happy' ending is the lizard who dies before getting the chance to see his friends become monsters (Because no one is not a monster), being the first victim of the whole thing.
pretty sure i struck a gold mine here, trying *very hard* to make a metal gear that's not funny.
(Yes, this is that 'Rogue Fox' project I was talking about... someone else used that name for their own strikingly thematically similar story waaay back in 2007, so I'm working on a new name. After having read it, I'm probably going to steal symbols and references from that too... probably by giving the player character the callsign "Six" or something.)
"A monster..? Look here, birdie. Home is out here in the stars. Whatever we defended all those years ago? That thing took the same place as the enemy we were hired to destroy. In killing one monster, we birthed another. You know just as well as I do, that they're the monsters here. You really want to call _me_ that?
I gave you a second chance at life. You're not going to bother giving me a second look? You might as well just be another monster. I don't know who you are anymore."
definitely the work of a cynical calculatory stoic
