Many people have ever got lag in their games where all objects where freezing and stuff, but listen. I have a amzing idea to decrease that! Roblox could add a option called "The important objects list". What is The Important Objects List? It is a list containing the most important objects of the game. whenever a player joins or is expiriencing lag the most important objects will load first. such as weapons, the game's script, the player itself and to be continued. when the server has lag it will try to load and handle the most important objects and once the lag is a little done the server will handle all objects so the game will be a bit normal again. this will decrease lag and make the most important parts of a game work. Support?

No support just get a new PC if you're lagging/or check your internet connection. See, that's the reason I don't use siggies.

this is not about pc's. when a game is lagging (to all players) the server will try to handle the most important objects/parts of the game such as the players characters and the game's script to let the whole game do it's thing. other objects like falling parts will be rendered and loaded later when the lag is less.

ps developers can modify the important objects list.

This is something developers can do themselves and some have started doing similar things like this to help there user base.

This could potentially break a lot of games, because how would roblox know what you think is important? Marking the important objects would be too much work as well...

^nah. You just select objects and put them on the list. It can even be a whole model. you can select multiple objects. I won't be alot work. and the player and his character are automatically put on the list.

Have you ever made something that could go for a game? Something that's at least a bit complex? Because I can guarantee you that it will be A LOT of work to just tell roblox what's important what not. This brings a lot of problems with it, because how do YOU know what's important? Let's say you have an RPG for exemple, with different areas that you can unlock as you progress in the game. You selected everything that's important for the game to run properly and script-wise, everything runs just fine. But due to lag, it doesn't load in a wall that separates two areas from one another, because it's not essential to run the game. This ruins gameplay, because you could do stuff that you shouldn't be able to do. So what do you do, you select that wall as an important object as well? If you do so, then what kind of objects aren't actually important? When you're in studio, you insert all these things because in their own way, they're essential to the game, the scripts, models and just walls are absolutely necessary to the game while detail will add to the atmosphere. So you could say "remove the details when there's lag", but in the end, you'll end up with way more stuff that's essential than stuff that isn't. And people already made scripts to increase performance by deleting detail. It's a choice that should be made by developers and not forced on by roblox, because it could be game breaking.

ehm harry, the rpggame sample. not everything is important. the most important things are the players, npc's and the weapons and tools players are using.

^ and you can't just put the whole workspace on the list. there will be a limit like you can only put 2/3 of your game's objects on the list.

other objects will still load they are collideable but the important objects such as the games script will load first so the whole game will not freeze.

If you want them to add it, then you better get a ton of support on this suggestion, personally I think it's a garbage idea but yeah whatever floats your boat.. I think it's garbage because first of all, technically all objects are important in a game.. Take the plaza for example, almost ALL the items in that game are important to make the game run.. Developers can easily forget to add a item to the list and boom there goes there game NBA

But if you do that, you make the whole idea of not loading other stuff useless. That would mean that the unimportant details that don't need physics calculations, ### ###### in as well as "invisible parts". And it's not because you can't see them, that the roblox engine isn't loading them, you either load it in, or you don't. If making parts invisible, but still colliding was a good way too increase performance, people would already have done it, so I seriously doubt it helps...

no all parts will load but when only in case there will be lag, the imortant objects will load first and fastest.

I'm pretty sure we do, almost all parts of a game needed to be running to get smoother gameplay. Besides, roblox could EASILY forget an "Important Part" and (even quoted by someone above this reply) "BOOM the games done." (I think that's what it was..) Anyway, its a dumb idea. It would just be more work for the developers and every part in a game is important. So yeah.

but what if a hacker joins and inserts useless parts?
lewisdon
#207565424Wednesday, January 18, 2017 6:43 PM GMT

would cause lag

#207565679Wednesday, January 18, 2017 6:49 PM GMT

I know you mean that all parts eventually load, but in the meantime that they haven't loaded yet, you could easily break the game. You say it would insert the other objects once "the lag is a little done", that could be several minutes, or potentially never, either way it will cause situations where things are breakable.
