like super dark and edge and depressing and whatever right
ok
so the hero starts off as this idealistic hero, slowly slipping into depression and cynicism. (INTENTIONALLY)
the whole thing opens with a scene where this rabbit or something typically peaceful or something appears, and talks to his friends or something
events happen, it's very surreal (hint it's a nightmare), and his friends come back, with red eyes, blackness and darkness and all surrounding them, the rabbit or whatever appears behind them, and reveals itself to be a spider, and morphs to being ten feet tall or something, then the hero is just frozen in place as they all surround him and burrow one of those black wires into the back of his head, just then there's a white light that collides with him.
then he wakes up or something idk, do note that prior to him waking up, it's all in the third person. Then it becomes first person. This is an important detail.
two weeks pass or something, and he and his friends (they're in a mercenary group) are requested to meet "Big Sister", who was elected to some official position or something because of popular opinion idk, and that "no one vocally opposed her election, she's the first female rabbit in The Council, and is a paragon of society" and whatever, some 10 years earlier.
They're sent to go and stop someone who she refers to as "her brother", someone who strikingly resembles the protagonist (a fox with a bandana), but has black fur and a golden tooth (they don't know this, but his chest area is pure black as well, no streaks of white anywhere), and without the bandana.
Events happen, and the protagonist then talks to effectively his second-in-command who is a bird, about the 3 years he spent in a coma, and doesn't recall anything that happened to cause it. The bird seems uncomfortable around the subject, and dodges it as best he can.
They go do this mission, and then they go and confront "her brother", who reveals himself to actually be the "same person" as the protagonist (the protagonist is a perfect clone of this character memories and all, except without the last 3 years of experiences and all), "The Pretender" by Foo Fighters plays, they go and talk about stuff and then start fighting, the protagonist then declares something along the lines of "One time, maybe you were me, but I'm different from the others -- I'm not going to be you." (There were other clones who were tasked with the same thing, including clones of the rest of them __except__ the bird.), the original then tries to argue that he's trying to __save__ everyone and that he's still the hero, that the protagonist is in the wrong and that by suppressing those under his control, he prevents monsters from forming and coming to be, after he mentions "what his sister is like". The original then knocks the bird out or something, and the protagonist goes and kills the original.
He then calls a shuttle to pick them up, but is curious as to what the original meant by "what his sister is like", and clones all of the files on all of his stuff and all, gets on the shuttle, and leaves.
Then he goes through all the logs, realizes some of his memories were censored by Big Sister, and that he's a clone created by Big Sister to prevent free thought and rationality: the original is just as much a monster as Big Sister is.
[events happen, some crewmates die, you can't do anything to prevent at least 2 deaths.]
[Insert a fourth-wall breaking scene here that involves you (as the player) taking on a character. If I go into detail, it'll ruin this scene damnit, I need my own Psycho Mantis!]
The Oracle then gives the protagonist a bunch of files about Big Sister, and going into further detail about the extent of everything -- that "the brother" was pushed too far by the raw evil of Big Sister, and is more of a "Knight Templar" or "Well-Intentioned Extremist" than "the true evil", ironically becoming the threat that he sought to destroy and create paradise from. He was only trying to do good. A tragic hero. Still a bad guy, but not 'the real Big Bad', he was influenced by Big Sister to go down this route to show 'what she's not'. Effectively, Big Sister is (from the perspective of culture) ironically filling the role of Big Brother, and that "Big Brother" here is more of Goldstein.
Suspiciously, "Big Sister" runs for re-election. She's then "elected to her first term as the first female rabbit in The Council, and is a paragon of society". When a news anchor then tries to say "Wasn't she just elected 10 years ago?". The channel shuts off and then comes back talking about this 'historic landmark achievement'. The next day, they then reveal that anchor was 'suddenly killed in the middle of the night', and how he was an awful person for being 'so cruel to this wonderful official who's never done anything wrong, and probably a racist' and the other typical left-side propaganda.
(This song then plays: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yvg3FtbOmCM)
The fox then asks the bird if this sort of thing started happening in the last 3 years, and the bird replies more or less "Well, it's been going on for a lot longer... and I'm sorry." and then leaves, takes off in a fighter, and isn't seen again for a *very* long time.
[More events happen, some crewmates die, blah blah blah.]
The fox then goes and confronts Big Sister about the crimes she's done, and how her radical influence has corrupted the Federation. Big Sister then replies "I haven't used these since the other 'you' tried this.", and reveals a black tentacle, and then transforms into a ten foot tall spider. The fox fights Big Sister for a while, but the tentacle reaches behind him, the fox then ducks (a quick time event) and cuts it off. The spider then screams in pain, runs, and calls in the bird.
The fox then talks to the bird about 'how could you do this, and work for her?'. The bird then replies "That it's the only way to preserve freedom and protect myself.' The fox then replies that he shouldn't be thinking about himself, and should have been thinking about the greater good. The bird then replies 'That's what the first one said, and look at what he became. You killed him, you knew what danger he posed to the galaxy'. Then the bird says 'I'm useful to her -- she needs me, all of my abilities, everything, and you could have been useful to letting her keep her power.' The fox then replies 'And I know where to strike a balance and draw a line.' There's a fight or something, and the fox is about to shoot the bird, and then Three Days Grace - Fallen Angel plays. The fox then says 'It doesn't have to end this way', and do whatever and yeah.
Big Sister is then seen at some sort of publicity rally or something for more support, and her tentacles extending to everyone who attends -- anyone who isn't already her drone will become one. The duo then go to this place, and expose her as a monster. The crowd then turns to them, eyes turned dark red and glowing with darkness, and attacks them.
The ending is, well, I don't know how to end this.
Yikes.
