If you wanted a more fair representation, divide the counties based on the "shortest split-line method" Here's a video on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mky11UJb9AY

As a person who does not like and support president trump, you have to give credit to the man that he won fair and square. People wanted change (Rustbelt) made him propel to the presidency. The Electoral College is just a simple way to make sure we have balance in the country in the U.S. so thay each state can have an influence to the election.

@Froat, because virtually every other democracy on earth uses the first past the post voting simple of 'the most votes wins'. Why should we give rural states more representation than they deserve? Serious. Urban areas contribute more economic gdp, innovation, employment, than rural areas do. Why do they get special benefits?

@seviro or maybe if the counties were divided more equally there'd be less conflict because representation is fairer

the popular vote would still guarantee that the simple majority is not outvoted by a minority, no matter how small. it would be an improvement over the current system

America isn't a true democracy. It's a democratic republic. The electoral college is in place to give the minority vote a chance. Obviously you don't want the majority always winning because the majority could vote to get rid of the constitution all together, OR which is terrifying, get rid of the electoral college, prohibiting the minority from ever getting a say.

The electoral college was created for a reason by a much smarter person than all of us. This is just like the argument when the fathers were creating a bicameral legislation. For instance the Connecticut compromise. It comprised the virgina and New Jersey plan. New Jersey was very small and wanted equal representation rather than population, when Virginia would have dictated everything.

What if the majority wanted to get rid of the constitution, what would stop them...;

It is funny because you say ####### ### #### votes, when actually, trump was confirmed to have 500+ fake votes.

Trump did lose the popular vote, but the electoral college favors the voices of the states. The entire purpose of the electoral college is to empower the states with smaller populations. This being said, it does go to show that Trump lacks a popular mandate and will face fierce opposition as he tries to implement his campaign promises.

and everyone in the state of new york's vote counts for nothing because the city always makes it a blue state. our votes are literally worthless. saying that new york and california would control the government really doesnt hold up to reality, because most of the times the popular vote agrees with the electoral college outcome, even when these two states are on the losing side of the election. the problem arises when the outcome contradicts the popular vote, because you have a smaller number of people dictating to a larger number of people. thats arguably worse than a majority dictating to a minority.
