my parents are a bit stubborn about it saying how my current isp own the lines and don't want to change because the connection will stay the same but is there anything I can do to persuade them? Im British and live countryside

Countryside in england is pretty much a death-sentence tbh not really much you can do unless you leave as it really wont change. They may have better plans but it's pretty unlikely, I'm guessing it's BT?

Yep, BT. don't VirginMedia install new lines? Or buy out the old lines and fix them? My mum doesn't think they do :/

Pretty sure BT has a monopoly on countryside tbh like I remember hearing that virgin and sky and others were trying to get a law passed to share the lines due to how far it was or something. They do lay new lines but if somewhere is 100% BT it's unlikely it'll be worth expanding out there due to how few are likely to switch unless there's like some community based hatred towards provider and it's well known but likelihood is not many people care enough.

BT aren't even attempting to fix our lines, an engineer came out and said that the line when he was working on it fell apart in his hand. And BT do have a monopoly on to countrysides, but I believe my neighbours hate BT too, and one of them moved in like 6 months ago.

Rip, I think there was discussion about it a few months back and it's being debated having them split from openreach if they don't pick it up soon but idk I'm not too informed about it all just trying to remember what I heard on TV in passing lol. Just keep pestering them and maybe you'll get something but I doubt there are many options plus tbh it's more on the package you get like my internet is pretty trash (A lot better than yours tho lol) but I used to have that then we upgraded and it's like close to 100x better.
