The current C-SPAN news board is currently relatively inactive. Stories are published, but not at a rate that justifies having an entire board. Therefor, the following proposition is made at the request of the News Media Alliance, an organization representing several major news companies including The Hill, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, Central News Network, and more.
Section I.
"News Media Alliance" refers to the democratically run private association run collectively by several major NUSA news organizations.
The News Media Alliance currently allows one board member from each member company, who vote once every two months on a Chairman to serve as the executive of the organization.
The board members may pass bylaws to govern the regulations of reporting on the board among members.
Section II.
The News Media Alliance shall be given control of the C-SPAN board, and become the owners of the C-SPAN trello.
It shall be renamed the News Feed.
Section III.
One representative from each company (who shall be the company's Board Member) will have access to the trello, as well as the Chairman.
Such representatives from the City Council may be added as either the Mayor or the developer responsible for upkeeping the board may direct.
Section IV.
C-SPAN shall immediately be given entrance into the News Media Alliance if this bill should pass.
Section V.
Each member company may put one story on the board at a time, and the Chairman may periodically make announcements from the News Media Alliance on the board at his discretion.
If ever a point shall be reached where there are enough members that it would not be possible to give each member company one story on the board at a time, a rotation system will be created by the News Media Alliance.
Section VI.
The developer responsible for board upkeep will have final authority to remove stories, suspend the ability of organizations to post to the board for no more than one month, or to mandate that a new board member be chosen for that company due to conduct the developer finds to be inappropriate.
Signed,
Councilman Matthew_Castellan

Nay, because of @Vursuz |

If we have one person doing it, it's not that great. A bunch of news companies constantly posting would be much better. Rua even said this:
yea ive been trying to keep it active and stuff but hardly anyone applies for cspan from the apps and they barely write any articles that are passable, so i have to write them myself, but I only have so much time in the day, so I can't write a crazy amount of articles consistently.

Aye, I think it would be good to have more than one company on the billboard to have different sources of news. This prevents biased, targeted news from taking a monopoly, and allows people to choose what they would like to tune in to, rather than be force it into one.

I sent this to Councilman Trump but I would encourage all of you to read it as well:
"Mr. Councilman,
I'm writing to you in regards to your vote on the bill proposed by Councilman Castellan regarding transferring the C-SPAN board to the News Media Alliance. In case you were not previously aware, you can see that board in its entirety here: /b/PFBV8kJG/c-span-news-lv-billboard-status
Mr. Councilman, the reasons for your opposing the bill are, in my opinion, false. The C-SPAN board is in no way active. Of the current news stories, 3 are from more than 10 days ago, and only 1 is from within the past 5 days. Mr. Councilman, while I agree C-SPAN regularly publishes articles, they do not publish often enough to justify an entire board for themselves. About 1 story is posted every 5 days to the C-SPAN board. C-SPAN would be able to continue publishing stories under the News Media Alliance board, and keep them up as long as they like.
For these reasons, Mr. Councilman, I urge you to reconsider your vote on this issue. Bring back an active news environment to the people of Las Vegas, and do your constituency a favor.
Sincerely,
Norman Paperman
Founder and Chairman, News Media Alliance" |

Also please consider this quote from Councilman Ruamaryn on the LVCC Trello:
"yea ive been trying to keep it active and stuff but hardly anyone applies for cspan from the apps and they barely write any articles that are passable, so i have to write them myself, but I only have so much time in the day, so I can't write a crazy amount of articles consistently." |

Nay for the simple reason that this makes everything unrestricted. You say that it's democratic, yet there is absolutely no guarantee in the "agency". In LVCC, we have restrictions to prevent abuse such as mayoral and developer vetos, along with voting to allow stuff to pass. Passing this would not only ruin the ability for LVCC to democratically vote on the bill board, something that people use quite often.

this gives the developer full control.
@youtube
Its active cause CSPAN's director posts articles once every few days. cspan basically has one employee. this would mean multiple stories daily. |
