i mean
i like argonians
a lot
and i hate designing/modelling/texturing human characters because they're never perfect
and I kind of sort of like the 'realistic furry' art style/aesthetic
i don't like the cartoony style at all, i don't consider myself a furry

not in the furry fandom sense where it's all 'cute' and 'tame' and all

more like Skyrim's version of Argonians/Khajiit
not the lighthearted stuff, something very 'edge' or 'predatory' in design
you just can't get that visual... style with human characters
they become 'too alien' doing that

no because I feel like the art style I want to go for with my game goes 'too furry'
basically take the idea for tenebrosity and add foxes, wolves, birds, etc. etc.
like yeah they're 'anthropomorphic animals' but more like with the theming of Conker and with a very 'fake realism' art style
another thing is I want to avoid human characters to include a theme about race without well you know, actually involving race
the protagonist is a fox... but a 99% ripoff of Solid Snake--clone thing, banndana, and infinite ammo, and all. Even a cardboard box joke lol

There are many definitions to being a furry. Unfortunately (for you), the definition that is most agreed on *IN* the fandom is to have a general interest in animals with human characteristics, like argonians.

before you even ask, one of the main things is actually about demonizing connection and how mob mentality destroys culture/society. It's a *very* far cry from Mass Effect (which has like the polar opposite ideological view, especially if you take the Synthesis ending as 'the main theme of Mass Effect', but it's also very far from 'xenophobia'. I mean it seems almost paradoxical if you misinterpret a lot of the writing for 'hate everybody different than you' and then have your entire crew made up of people _not_ like you biologically
The whole thing is about the importance of individuality, the need to stand up for the right thing even when everyone wants to put you down, etc. etc. Being 'renegade' is synonymous with 'being good' in a crappy world.
the other problem is that I'm writing this game with it's own game engine and completely from scratch sooooooooooooooo
not going to finish for a *very* long time
i already have spreadsheets and stuff and a prototype-thing made in Unreal 4. I won't actually use Unreal for legal concerns. (ie, restrictions), but have a direction I want to go in mind.
I'd like to use CryEngine but the legal wording basically says "if we don't like your project we have every right to sue the living hell out of you."
and Unity is garbage
