Bonus Question : Three men who work for the same company go to a hotel on a business trip. They each get a room, and the total cost is $30 for the three rooms. Each man pays $10, and they head up to their rooms. The manager realizes after they’ve left the counter that they have paid too much (turns out the total for the three rooms should have been only $25), and he sends the bellboy up to their rooms with $5 to make things right (what an honest hotel manager). Unfortunately, though, the bellboy doesn’t know how to split five one-dollar bills between three men, so he pockets $2 and gives each of the men a dollar back. This means that instead of paying $10 each, now each man has paid only $9. 9x3=27. The bellboy has only $2. 27+2=29. Where is the other dollar? BQ A: $30.00 was originally given to the hotel owner Correct price of the room = $25 Each man receives $1 dollar refund = $3 The owner receives a $2 tip $25 for room + $2 tip for the owner = $27 $30 - $27 = $3 which is how much the men receive back as a refund.
