ok so i have a fever right now and my entire body is aching and i can barely move
i have a shift tonight from 10pm to 6am and my mom is forching me to go and not call in sick
overnights at mcdonalds include a lot of the maintenance work so ill be forced to lift heavy machines all night and mop the whole resturant and stuff that will make my body in even worse shape than it is
her reason being is that earlier my b##p##ked me up and i went over and he made me soup and helped me feel better, when he dropped me off i went to bed and woke up feeling 10x worse, but if i "had the energy to see him i have the energy for work"
i asked her if i could work 10-2 instead of 10-6 but she called me lazy and pathetic and told me to stop whining
im literally freezing under 3 blankets and sore everywhere, my##hroat feels like its closing up and my##ead is pounding, note that
its like -20 celcius tonight and ill have to be in the drive thru window all night
is she in the wrong? should i call in anyway?? is it right to do this to your kids? also note that ive worked there for 3 years and never called in sick |

i agree with shattered.
Ironically |

call in sick lol
they are gonna send you home if you end up going, and you could contaminate the food leading to the chances of you being suspended/fired

"mom the kids on the forum agree with me, i'm not going"

i wont hear the end of it if i call in sick
she wont let me leave the house for like 2 weeks if i do lol
im 17 years old and i dont even have control over my own job |
if your able to work legally then your old enough to make your own decisions
what you should do depends on the possible repercussions
if she will cause serious problems for you if you disobey her then just call in and try your best
if its nothing serious get some rest, and when your feeling better and your able to think clearly talk to her about it, speak calmly and clearly while trying to sound guilty

i cant even walk up the stairs without crawling |

you should probably call in |

i mean first of all your work is your business. i doubt you'd ever tell your mom when and when not to go to work. so since you're in doubt just go ahead and call out. |
i mean you basically have two choices then
1. obey your mom and potentially put your job and health in jeopardy over one overnight shift... you'd also be putting other people's well being in jeopardy as you can make them sick lol
2. disobey your mom and have her nag you and try to "ground" you like my mom does to me

Just go in, perform bad, talk to manager about illness, get sent home.
Tell your mom you don't feel good. And with ur ## theres no "food" to contaminate. |
if i go in and get sent home she'll accuse me of faking it and telling everyone im sick and get mad at me |
Sometimes your mother isn't right and you need to call in.
Trust me.
just call in sick and tell ur man that ur mom might be mad at u so he can just ignore her for a bit o_o
