"Failing to register or comply with the Military Selective Service Act is a felony punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 or a prison term of up to five years, or a combination of both." Ah, so it is $250,000 I typed in the extra zero but I thought that punishment was too harsh, but no it is a quarter of a million dollars

"literally the worst law ive ever heard of" until you realize that north korea literally has a law where the sentences of criminals are carried by their grandchildren, whether they're born before or after they're sent to a prison camp

yes but north korea is laughably insane so does anything they do actually count?

for finland the law sort of makes sense though, considering they're always under the threat of a russian attack. @death True, and for Iran it makes sense considering they're under threat from Saudi Arabia, Israel, and jeehadis too

fair enough, but america already has the largest military in the world and forced registration is unnecessary, ESPECIALLY considering the law dates back to the civil war

@vikings What if we get into World War 3? Hypothetical and it likely won't happen but keep in mind we do have Donald Trump as our president, anything is possible even if the probability is <0.00001

*sigh* "they wouldn't dare." correct. they wouldn't. but that's not the point also a draft will never be necessary again. it just won't happen

the winter war wasn't even the first time that the russians launched an invasion on finland and were literally massacred by a bunch of farmers you'd think they'd be smart enough to learn the first time rofl

you could sign up for selective service when you fill out FAFSA stuff too so that's what I did but I'm not eligible for military service so if I get drafted they'll just look at ## stuff and be like "yea u cant go near guns"
