Alright, as you are reading this it must mean you are the one of the few who ###e been picked to join the Special Weapons and Tactics team. Firstly, I will introduce myself. Hello, I am Major Nick Diaz with the Independence County Sheriff's Office, I am also the Commander of the Special Weapons and Tactics team. I have been with the ICSO for around 1-2 months and I also have been with them previously. I joined the ICSO as a Cadet and then went through the Cadet Academy and became and Probationary Deputy.I was a Probationary Deputy for roughly one week and then became a full time Deputy. I joined the SWAT team roughly 2-3 days after that became a BRAVO Squad Officer. Unfortunately our Commander could not longer hold the position and I assumed it which was and still is an Honour. Now, enough that, this R&G will consist of the following; 1. Teams BRAVO/ALPHA 2. Deployments 3. Uniform 4. Vehicles 5. Weapons and Gear 6. Training 7. TAC and SWAT Firstly, the teams we have within SWAT are BRAVO and ALPHA, they are 2 squads which helps maintain proper command. It is also makes it easier to communicate and helps keep SWAT in order. Upon being selected to join SWAT you will be assigned to a Squad, you have no say in this as it is what ever is available. ALPHA and BRAVO have no specialities, like I said, it is just to be easier managed. Secondly, SWAT deployments require Sergeant plus to deploy SWAT and only when there are three plus SWAT online. Even if there are only 2, they cannot deploy. SWAT should only take out the Bearcat IF they have time. Once SWAT is on scene, they may reset, get in SWAT uniform, then get the Bearcat to the scene. When you are not deployed you are required to patrol as a regular deputy in a marked vehicle in regular uniform. Thirdly, uniforms are to be worn when deployed, the uniform is to be worn with the Vest and Helmet that is in the SWAT gear room. This is to help point out we are SWAT even though we will have a helmet and Vest. When you are not deployed you patrol in regular uniform. (Refer to Second | Deployments) Fourthly, the Vehicles SWAT drive are the Bearcat, 2 unmarked trucks and sometimes we fly the Helicopter. The Bearcat is only to be used once a full team of SWAT are at the County. (3+ Refer to Second | Deployments). The unmarked can be used when SWAT are on stand-by and patrolling and only when you are on stand-by. The Helicopter is only to be used once you have been trained to fly and Air Support is requested. Fifth, the Weapons and Gear we use are the AR-15 Assault Rifle, the Battering Ram, Flash-bang grenade and Riot Shield. Now, bearing in mind the AR-15 is a SWAT weapon, SWAT members may take it out with them on patrol. The Battering Ram is only given via Admin as of how dangerous it is, when you use it you will understand. The Flash-bang is used to temporarily blind the suspect which helps us take down the suspect without them seeing us and opening fire, enabling us to tase him/her and arrest them. And, finally, the Riot Shield, this is used to, well, like it says: Shield us. Sixth, training's will be common after you join SWAT, helping us dust up our tactics and making sure we can safely protect Independence County and its people without failure. Training's will be held, at the least, weekly, but we would never do a training more than once a week. Their will be an exam every month which will be able to tell us whether you are still qualified to remain in SWAT. Finally, the relations between TAC and SWAT has been a bit of a sore thumb, but these relations will be forever evolving and TAC and SWAT will work together. We will train together, meet together, communicate together and so on, so forth. Thank you for reading this, please refer to this if you got confused with something. If their is something you don't understand, please message me straight away. Signed, Major N. Diaz, Independence County Sheriff's Office, Commander of Special Weapons and Tactics.
