I'm not really one to make a fuss over censorship; unless it happens to be so outright absurd that I need to take legal action.
Now, typically- I've known that "censorship" has been worked on continuously for what- the past two years? But how many of us were informed that this was going to happen? How many of us were warned that our experience on ### site could be affected by this change? 0. Zero people. So naturally, the feedback is getting more and more heated over time as a mixture of a counter to political correctness and the lack of necessity for overabundant censorship.
And now they want to start censoring group names. Sure, I can understand a bit of group-name censorship for the sake of preventing profanity, but it seems a NEW profanity has entered the realm of Roblox! Drum roll please;
"The"
Yes, even the word "the" is now occasionally censored in-game and apparently for group names. And upon contacting Roblox, it won't be fixed because they can't "change your settings or age on your account." That's quite interesting, given the fact that they run the site, but hey, security right? That's a fun excuse.
"We understand that this will be frustrating during this update but your patience is appreciated."
Well, patience is a bit difficult when compensation wasn't even discussed and no notification was ever expressed. Unfortunately, that's a bit of a violation to the ###eement I signed off on when I joined up on this site.
So where does the ride stop? Well, I'd prefer it to stop here, but that's up to the community and the people who run it.
Any thoughts? |
