I'm gonna try and structure this so that I have problems, then solutions. =P
paragraph #1, problem
paragraph #2, 3, 4, etc solutions
To begin, the stages that hit the top visits really aren't the best. Over half the time, they really don't fit the contest criteria.
To fix this, you should make stages only able to qualify for the top visited if they have a score that is 70% above the other stages. That number is high enough that stages up there have a high chance of fitting criteria, and is low enough to confidently say that the top visited stages won't have any less than that (unless they have nothing to do with the contest theme).
Another problem is that nobody votes. This is really bad, because stages (like mine) can stay there for a whole day and not have anyone recognize them.
I have four possible fixes for this (and I'm gonna post something Telamon said).
Give people, say 1 tix for every two stages they review. I can get a full idea of what each stage is like in about 45 seconds. This would be a quick way for people to earn tix, and would get people moving to vote!
Similar to idea one, you could have a bunch of prizes for top x% voting. If the prizes are good enough, people would compete to vote more. =P
Force people to vote 10-15 times before they're allowed to submit a stage of their own. This will offset the balance of contest entrants to votes. Naturally, the first 30-40 people wouldn't have to do this, because they'd have no stages to judge. =P
Change your place choosing algorithms. I've seen the same popular stages come up over and over. I think the system should focus on lower level places more, and have the higher level places come up rarely.
Telamon's solution: "The other thing we could do is make it so people vote on your place X times if you vote on X other places. That would work" This is a good fix because then I'd get a lot of votes. =P
The tactic for doing well in these contests is to enter ASAP so that you may get votes. This means Free Modeled stages that took 10 minutes to make will get more recognition than places that took 6 hours, and were entered 6 hours late in the contest.
I think that roblox should announce a week in advance what the next contest will be. That way, people can prepare and take an edge over those free-modelers. >:D
Sometimes you'll run into places that don't follow the criteria of the contest. And it's really hard to decide whether to choose a cops and robbers place (when the theme is mountains) or a plain baseplate. =/
I think roblox should have a button to flag a place as not following criteria. For every flag a place gets, -1 point. For every vote a place gets, +1 point. The points would be unable to go above 0, in case the owner changes the place after getting 300 votes (hard to return to -6 from that, =P ).
And to help keep bad stages off, you could disallow players that don't follow the criteria of the stage from competing for x amount of days.
Well, there it is. Time to tweet to Telamon about it. =P |

You know what's a problem?
When people put their places in the contest, and they don't have a place on the subject, so it's like... Empty Baseplate vs. Brickbattle
...
And you have to play to vote <_< |
|
|
Great solutions and suggestions. I support all of these :3 |
|

@GigsD4X
The final set of paragraphs addresses that. =P |

Well... They still show so it would kind of still be a problem =\ |

Oh sorry, nevermind, I didn't read it correctly..
O_o this kind of DOES solve all the problems ô_ô |

@GigsD4X
Wow, you're right. I completely forgot to mention that at -6 points, your place gets taken down. =P |

Nice! Well thought out. Not like "TH3 C0N3STS AINT F41R!!!" Nice. Agree 100% |

Telamon. Must. See. This. >:D
And he must implement some of these before the contests ends so that I have a chance at winning the helm of earth.
Seriously, 27 hours and I haven't been judged. >_> |

Perfect Solutions. It goes over every fault the contests have. The Number one Visited place in the contest is Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and that has NOTHING to do with the contest. I support. |

Also, flagging should have to approved by moderators or admins before it loses a point. But I really like that lower-ranked places show up, instead of all the high-ranked places. It gives lower players a chance. |

"Also, flagging should have to approved by moderators or admins before it loses a point"
Well, the main thing is that even if a place gets flagged, it can be unflagged if players believe it fits the criteria (and therefore would vote for it). |

What about the idiots that really like the place and do not care if it fits criteria or not? |
|
|
We gotta hope that users can override those people. =/
Anyway, this contests is annoying me. My stage has been up for over 38 hours and it's still scored N/A. >_>
I'm nearly positive I entered it correctly. >_> |

Exellent idea.
It'll DEFINATELY allow newer players to not feel so... 'bummed out'.

I posted something like it earlier, which was 10 votes for 10 tix, A DAY... I like the idea, which gives a lot of non-BCers the 'want' to vote |
