Let's look at this from a logical standpoint.
In the recent blog ROBLOX has published, they say they were changing the skin colors to something else - the reason being that the new ones were more "saturated" and "authentic". While this particular part may frustrate a lot of people, myself included, at least a reason was given for their actions. I can't say that it was a good reason, as I'm sure most players care more about having a wide variety of colors to choose from over having more "authentic" and "saturated" colors, however at least a reason was given. I still think we should protest this particular part as well, however a reason was given, which is definitely better than what was in the next section.
After stating this, ROBLOX then proceed to nonchalantly say that "After choosing a skin tone, all of your avatar’s body parts (Head, Left/Right Arms, Torso, /Right Legs) will be replaced with the same color simultaneously."
So, what is ROBLOX's reason for this? Well, erm... it's not exactly clear, as they haven't given us a reason, and for all the reasons I try to think of, none of them seem to justify this update. I thought that maybe ROBLOX was trying to make things simpler for their younger players, however this made no sense, as R##L########n demographic are children, and if viewing multiple colors at once was somehow a confusing concept for children, children wouldn't be playing the ###e.
You know, there's an old saying that people use, and I think it sums this situation up quite well: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
And that seems to be what ROBLOX is trying to do at the moment, trying to mess with an element in the game that players have no issue with, and not only that, like, as seem from the negative responses to the update. If the ability to have color combinations were a problem in this game, players would talk about it, the same way that they're talking about this update now.
It just makes sense to keep the ###rent features (allowing color combinations and the ###rent colors). This is not something that will benefit ROBLOX, as if they go through with this update, the ###lowing will most likely happen:
Players will be upset, some may leave. (A lot of people are already annoyed over tickets being removed, an update like this could be the final straw for a lot of players)
People will have an extremely limited choice in character design, as they are only able to use a few colors, and not able to combine multiple colors. This ruins a lot of people's styles. There's a large number of players like myself who mainly rely on colors for their characters, and this would be ruined if the update is sent out.
However, if they cancel the update, or at least remove the parts players dislike, the following will most likely happen:
Players will be happy, and won't leave.
A lot of players may gain some respect for the company for listening to their userbase.
Players will continue to be able to express themselves through their color combinations.
ROBLOX, when you sent out the R15 update, you didn't remove R6, you kept R6 and added R15 as an optional feature. As a result, players felt in control and both sides of the co###were happy. At the ve###least, why not add the ne###olors into the ga### but keep the ol###olors as well? This will add even more customization options for players.
If you've made it through all this, thank you for reading. I really appreciate the fact that you've taken the time out of your day to read my post and argument.
For my last words on this post, I'd like to say this...
For the people who aren't concerned about this update because it doesn't effect them, and aren't helping as a result, realize this: Every time ROBLOX gets away with something like this, it feeds into ROBLOX's belief that they can get away with making updates that a large majority of players dislike, and eventually, your lack of support will come back to bite you, as all the players who's campaigns you didn't support left, and there will be less people to back you up and help you.
This disadvantages you, whether it be in the short term or long time. Either way, we should see this as a time to unite together and show that we really can do great things when we all put our minds to it. Thanks. |
