My favorite part of going to the Zoo? Watching the chimpanzees in their natural state. It's quite funny, how they behave. Of course they do their normal ape things, throwing poop, eating flees, acting like- well, apes! However, there was one chimp that was especially friendly towards me.
Every time I'd go to the zoo to visit my friendly furballs, one chimp in particular liked me quite a bit. They all look the same for the most part, of course, but this one always seemed to have a friend with him- his cousin, perhaps?
Anyways, he'd always come to give me a greeting. The goofy smile he'd always have on his face... The trusting look in his eyes.
Little did he know, it was all part of the process... the plan I'd been following all along.
Not soon after my last visit, I talked to my contacts, and the little chimp was moved to a solitary exhibit, away from the rest of his kind. He didn't see much of me from that point on, but I saw him. The only emotion that resonated: complete, utter defeat.
Not too long after that, I had my contact send in the big boys to "handle" the entire chimpanzee exhibit... but before I did, I took a trip to the little chimp's cage. The moment he saw me, oh the joy in his eyes. I gave him warmth, and took him to see the rest of his kind... for the last time.
As I stand there, the little chimp by my side, I had my men handle the rest of his kind. They used gas, and the little chimp's expression of happiness soon turned to terror as he saw his kind being extinguished in front of his very eyes. A tragedy, seeing as he, of any of the rest, was by far the least deserving of this punishment... which made it all the better.
My eyes were the last thing he saw. I saw the entire process he went through... and it was glorious.
I set him on the ground, and he, unable to move, could only look up at me as I whispered, "I win."
As I walked away, I could ever so faintly hear in the background: "you... killed MAH CLAN!!!" |
