Awards are a terrible spectrum on how to measure how great an artist is.
Take the 2011 Grammys as an example. You had The Roots release Undun, arguably considered their magnum opus, and then Drake who released his greatest album, Take Care. Either winners would've been suitable, but Eminem released Recovery. It received mixed reviews, was criticized for its corny punchlines and generic production, and lack of organization in the album. Despite this, he won. Why?
He won because it was the most popular. This meant the Roots has no chance, but Drake easily did. Take Care cemented him as an artist who changed the game, an artist who was going to become the biggest star in the world. He lost, and Eminem won another Grammy for a terrible album that he himself critiqued later on, as well as rap greats like Talib Kweli.
Eminem deserved many of his early awards, I cannot deny. He is indeed a legend, but his new music is terrible, and still wins awards because it's popular and he's a safe pick. The Grammy's voters are mostly white, middle aged men. You think they know anything about rap? No. They pick the most popular one they can or the one they can pick and get away with with no criticism.
No one even cares for Billboard Awards. Meek Mill won a BBA for best rap album when ###### ###### and Kendrick came out the same year. BBA's are stupid.
Awards doesn't equal greatness. |

You're such a hypocrite.
Do not talk about Eminem winning because of popularity WHILST talking about drake.
You also talk about Eminem being generic? Drake is the DEFINITION of generic. Literally most of his songs are the same beat. He uses the same pitch voice over and over again. He never goes high nor low, he stays the same. Now, don't be an actual MORON and go against me because you know this is actually true. Maybe you've actually learned something from this.

|

Yeah, he began doing that on Views.
I'm talking about an example used on why awards don't mean anything, and I used Drake and the 2011 Grammys as an example.
Read and actually pay attention to what someone writes before you attempt to save your rap hero.

That's literally what I am talking about you nincompoop. "Yeah, he began doing that on Views." That's the biggest BS I've heard today. Your excuses are worse than your actual back-up statements.

##### ##### clapback king |
|
|
Yeah, he began repetition on Views.
He may have had SIMILAR subject matter, but it doesn't mean it was the same. He varied his flows, his production, went into exacts.
Read any reviews on Views. He began copying and recycling his old work. Drake wasn't generic back then, in fact, he was a breath of fresh air from the gangsta rap phase brough on by artists like 50 Cent.

You're also sidetracking from the argument. My main point was awards don't mean anything, ## # #### examples of why. You aren't arguing the point you seemed so confident about until I posted my wordwall and you changed the topic to Drake. Stay on topic. [+603]://RAT Supervisor |

Also
"Eminem invented the cypher"
no he didn't. find me proof when we finish arguing about the awards and their meaning.
