The planet Azure has a long history of civil wars and warlords fighting over power, with records dating back to at least a millennium before the introduction of calendar BY. The wars became deadlier as technology progressed. Empires were unified, and empires were brought to ruin. Entire nations rose to power, and entire nations fell. The war-torn planet was a chaotic sprawl between powers for control. Azure has 2 hemispheres – the Northern and the Southern hemispheres, each with their own independent climates. The Northern was a congregation of desolate, icy bleak mountains and glaciers with temperatures hovering below absolute zero. This huge section of the planet proved to be of great military importance, as its extremely harsh environments molded brave soldiers into relentless war machines. Every year, the Armada sends its finest three hundred soldiers from the fabled Eradicator division – the elite force of the Armada into the mountains to brave the fiercest blizzards and the strongest avalanches in the midst of an intensive period of weapons training. These hand-picked elites drill under the harshest conditions, using simulation firearms against battle robots to hone their combat skills. To protect their forces in training, scout teams are deployed on the lookout for any enemies to show up, providing troops ample time for effective preparation before impending battle. :// YEAR 3528 BY, 22 DECEMBER, 7:32PM (adjusted to Earth Time, GMT) :/ BEFORE DISCOVERY OF FROZKIA SPACE-TRAVEL AND ULTIMATE PLANETARY UNIFICATION “The scouting party I commandeered had spotted a massive battalion of unknown soldiers which were advancing towards Echo Base across a valley.. The strength of that invading force was nothing like we’ve ever seen before.. we were lucky we weren’t detected by their radars or their troops, since were above the mountainous terrain and a heavy snowstorm had blocked our vision. The scouts soon identified the enemy to be under the command of Terrestrial Legion hailing from the Southern hemisphere - a long-standing enemy of the Armada. We retreated back to Echo, taking a shortcut through the caves to alert the Monarch.” Once the fortress received word of imminent attack, Monarch Canist rapidly mobilized a counter-force and its soldiers sprang into action, hastening to their battle stations. The Eradicators equipped themselves with ‘Devastator’ pulse rifles and laser-resistant shields and positioned themselves in tactical defensive locations. Their glowing rifles were loaded and pointed at the fractured valley ahead, with eagle-eyes scanning every crevice of the valley in search of enemies. Despite having gone through tiring weeks of debilitating battle practice, every man and woman had volunteered to fight against the Legion. They were willing to sacrifice themselves for the Armada’s cause. “..I didn’t report the Legion’s strength however.. The scout team didn’t want our forces to scramble..” Out of the blizzard came a beam of sharp energy which pierced through the metal enforcements of a guard tower that Canist was in. A groan was heard and the Monarch stumbled out of the fortification, plunging twelve feet and smashing into the thick arctic snow below. Pandemonium broke loose across the battlefield. “The enemy charged head-on without mercy.. more than five-hundred Legion soldiers came thundering down the valley, their blaster rifles screaming their punctuating lasers through the blizzard. The battle sirens sounded, and we struck back..” The Eradicators countered the enemy force valiantly with a hurricane of return fire under Second-in-Command Legend Freakful, who disseminated tactical orders and marked prime targets to enhance their collective defensive power. The elites executed their enemies in precise fashion, operating in fire-teams of six - two being shield bearers while the remaining four followed behind, spraying lethal energy beams with their Devastator rifles. Jakale-488, a new member drafted into the Eradicators regiment, bounded through laser fire and grenade blasts to get to the Monarch. Mounds of bloodied snow were blasted about in the flurry of crossfire and the stinging smell of blood and melted metal cringed Jakale. In the midst of absolute chaos, he stabilized the unconscious Canist and lugged his body into the base over volleys of covering fire, a trail of blood leaking from the poorly-secured wound. He watched his mortally wounded leader as a team of combat medics took over. Against the sheer manpower of the enemy, the Eradicators stood their ground and forced the Legion to withdraw their invading forces. Half the battle was won, but they couldn’t afford to lay down their weapons for a nap. With Freakful fearing a second attack, he withdrew the forces which were stationed at the outer sections of Armada territory and concentrated the remaining Eradicators within a kilometer’s radius from the reaches of Echo Base. The next wave came, this time with a thousand Terrestrial Legion soldiers. Their leader who was at the head of the horde, was immediately marked and shot dead by a sniper. With their leader dead, the enemy soldiers charged towards Echo base without pause. They ravaged the outer territories within an hour and engulfed defenders like a merciless flood. Freakful knew that his forces would break apart against the huge battalion of hostiles, and issued a retreat order immediately. Most of the Eradicators heeded the command and made a run for the inner territories, with the shield bearers protecting the riflemen as they proceeded to retreat. As they withdrew and fired back, their ammunition count dwindled and lone elites were picked off. The Legion continued to push them back, and came pouring into the inner territories. Jakale-488 was shocked at what he saw. He brandished his sidearm fought as hard as he could with the remaining elites and didn’t stop until he ran out of ammunition. Despite the heavy casualties suffered by the Legion, they could not be stopped, and forced the outnumbered Eradicators into the Headquarters - the final defense of the Armada’s Echo sector. At this stage, a hundred and fifty Terrestrial Legion soldiers faced at least thirty surviving Eradicators. Low on ammunition and with their backs against the walls, the elites brandished their swords for a final fight to the death. This was for their loved ones. For the fallen Eradicators. And above all, for the Armada. With one final burst of resolve, the last Eradicators clashed head-on with their blades lunging, slashing and killing with every strike. With only a clip left, Jakale-488 reloaded his explosive sidearm and fired away again, shooting down eight enemies in front of him with each hostile exploding in a cloudy mist of blood. He threw his sidearm aside and prepped his sword for the worst. He knew this was his very last fight to protect his Monarch. Suddenly, a volley of brilliant blue lasers started firing behind him, and he threw himself onto the ground and looked up to witness Canist blasting down the Legion horde with his rifle. From the sidelines, Freakful flanked the Legion troop with a handful of surviving Eradicators, isolating the remaining hostiles and cut them down. The invasion was stopped, and Echo lives on. This very invasion spread its message to all powers of Azure, that the unstoppable Armada and its Eradicators will not rest until every opposition is put to death once and for all. They shall anticipate their sweet victory, for they are the thunderous storm that cannot be stopped... Nos Autem Procellam! -FIN- :// BATTLE REPORT :/ KIA • 293 Eradicators • Undocumented loss of Terrestrial Legion lives - estimated total casualties: 1500~ :// BATTLE REPORT TERMINATED_ Written by: Jakale488, Jaaziar
