United Nations Peacekeeping Forces | Rules & Regulations Chapter I - Introduction Chapter II - Rules of Engagement Chapter III - Promotions Chapter IV - Wrap-Up Chapter I: Introduction Peacekeepers monitor and observe peace processes in post-conflict areas and assist ex-combatants in implementing the peace agreements they may have signed. Such assistance comes in many forms, including confidence-building measures, power-sharing arrangements, electoral support, strengthening the rule of law, and economic and social development. Chapter II: Rules of Engagement A) You have the right to use force to defend yourself against attacks or the threat of attacks. B) Hostile fire may be returned effectively and promptly to stop a hostile act. C) When U.N. forces are attacked by unarmed hostile elements, mobs and/or rioters, U.N. forces should use the minimum force necessary under the circumstances and proportional to the threat. D) You may NOT seize the property of others to accomplish your mission. E) Detention of civilians is authorized for security reasons or in self-defense. Chapter III: Promotions You can receive promotions from training's and patrols. You are only allowed to be promoted every other day, lying about this will get your rank stripped and you will be suspended.
